The hotel is a great starting point for hiking tours (the start point for the balcony walk is a 15-minutes drive away). We had an incredible stay at the Sunset House in Jabal Shams. The host (Mr. Mousa) went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect. When one of our cars broke down on the way, he personally came to pick us up and took us to the villa in his own car. After taking us to the villa located on top of the mountain, he went back, took the broken car to a mechanic, and had it fixed! Not only that, but he invited us for lunch twice and was constantly checking in to make sure everything was okay. His hospitality truly made our trip memorable. The villa itself was comfortable, well-equipped and super clean beds and rooms, and the stunning views of Jabal Shams added to the experience. Highly recommended!

Homeed and his brother were excellent hosts and made our experience in Oman the best possible, their hospitality and knowledge of the area to guide us was outstanding and I recommend this experience for anyone looking to visit Jabel Shams, the canyon walk and the wadi’s.

It’s a beautiful place with a very friendly owner. He invites you to his home for dinner and breakfast, where everyone eats together on the floor in a traditional way, which is very nice. The room was clean and comfortable, and in the morning we could enjoy the sunrise right from our bed. Definitely recommended!

The location is very beautiful. Our cousin received us and took us on a tour of Jebel Shams. He offered us a very delicious Omani dinner and breakfast as well, and watched the sunset. The villa is a comfortable and complete villa, and any type of car can reach the villa.

What not to like? Perfect stay at Sama Al-Khutaim, thanks to Mohsin, who made sure that we were taken care of. The hotel (or the guest house, rather) is a few yards away from the start of the Balcony Walk, the main attraction. We loved the fact that there were very few guests staying (3 rooms only), as it gave a family vibe, which was really nice. The food we had for dinner and breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Can only recommend! Careful! You must have a 4WD to reach the hotel. A normal car won't go up those hills and rough terrain!

Good location and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast (waffles and omelettes made to order). Easy parking. I read other reviews complaining about cold rooms in winter - our room had a reverse cycle air conditioner that heated our room wonderfully (visited in February).

We had taken fellow travelers to this place in the car and the manager spontaneously honored that on the spot with an upgrade for all of us. A really great location as a starting point for the balcony walk (6 km away). Good dinner, good breakfast, good beds, good parking.
