We asked for a large bed,a bath ,a view, and to book us for 3 main meals.The room was ideal,a table and seating area,to set up treats for Christmas,very quiet on a night,which was great.The food in the resteraunt was exceptional quality.The staff were polite and efficient and productive.We would definitely tell our friends of this gem.

The golden Lion is situated very close to Hadrian’s Wall, making it ideal for a quick visit. The rooms are big and well presented, and the staff are amazing. The food is exactly what you want after a long walk or drive. Excellent quality and plenty of it. The breakfast options are superb. All in all, this place is well worth a visit. Just a shame I was only there for one night. Can recommend enough.

The location was beautiful Mike the host is really friendly and accommodating. Mike was there to greet us on arrival and we had fresh bread home made jam and 2 locally sourced bottles of ale to enjoy. There are plenty of scenic walks in every direction and walking to the nearest village of allendale is worth it. Take a head torch 🔦 for the walk home as the roads are very dark. We loved the log burning stove and kept that going all weekend. The logs were supplied free of charge. There is lots of wildlife surrounding you so lots to take in and appreciate. Thanks Mike we had a really nice time and will definately return.

    Nice quiet, riverside location, with car parking directly outside of the house. Very friendly hosts who couldn't do enough to make our short stay enjoyable. Immaculately clean bedroom with very large shower/bathrom. Breakfast cooked to perfection or choice of cereal or fresh fruit salad if you'd prefer. Very conveniently located for exploring Hadrian's Wall and museums. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
