This was the best value for money stay I had this trip. Highly recommend opting for dinner to be included with your stay. The steamed vegetables and meat with rice and soup was a sumptuous, healthy yet delicious meal especially at the end of a day's big hike. The dorm beds were comfortable, and it was a really nice luxury to get a private onsen experience (especially the outdoor one). Though there was no convenience store around, the hostel has a very good range of snacks, instant noodles, buns at good prices so you don't have to worry about not having food around.

An amazing Royakan for a sleepover on Kumano Kodo trail. We came soaked in rain and the staff welcomed us offering shoe warmers and their all in all hospitality. The food was very delicious and the onsen a great pleasure after a day of hikomg

The food and (outside) onsen were wonderful, it really was one of the highlights of our trip! The place is very clean and everybody was very helpful!

I was very happy when I got to the hotel the atmosphere just felt really friendly and warm. I loved the bridge over the river to the onsen. The onsen was lovely, three outside pools and an indoor pool plus a private onsen for families or couples. The food was fantastic, eat slowly I ate too quickly and felt full too soon. There was a very friendly front of house staff member called Suchittra or maybe Sasayuri. I had a western twin room on the ground floor. The hotel was comfortably busy without being hectic. They have a shuttle bus and that was very handy from Hongu. When I left they gave me very good instructions how and when to catch the public bus to my next location.

Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya is situated just a 2-minute walk away from Kawayu Onsen bus stop.

This hotel has a sister hotel just in the side and the bath and outdoor onsen there are amazing! Totally recommend to use the outdoor onsen at night is just amazing
