Situated in Ella, 4.9 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Tantra Ella Lodge features accommodation with a terrace, free WiFi, room service, and a 24-hour front desk. With mountain views, this accommodation provides a balcony. One of our favorite accommodations during our trip through Sri Lanka. It is a short walk from the main station away from the noisy center and at the end of a more quiet street right be the jungle. It offers a super comfy communal terrace/chill area which is decorated with a lot of personality and attention to details. From there you can watch the nature in front of you and might even catch a glimpse of the giant squirrel or other exotic animals. The room we had was cozy and very clean. Had a great night's sleep there while listening to the sounds of nature. Highlight of the place is the host Angelo, who is just an overall awesome person and who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Whether it's the chocolate cakes and tea upon arrival, serving us huge mountains of Sri Lankan breakfast every morning, letting us shower in an unoccupied room after we came back from a hike while already checked out or filling up our 5 liter water container before leaving, we really couldn't have asked for more. On top of that we had some nice conversations and received helpful recommendations. Thanks a lot for the great hospitality and hope to seeing you again.

The view of the bridge and the jungle were absolutely stunning! It was a short walk down to the bridge if you wanted to get on the tracks which was great. The room itself was absolutely perfect. All of the amenities we could have asked for and you could tell it was very new. It was also a short tuk tuk ride into town when we wanted to do some shopping, and our host was so generous to give us a ride when we needed. The family that hosted couldn’t have been any sweeter, and we were so grateful for the time we got to spend there and the opportunity to have met them!!

We even packed some food for the rest of the day. The host was lovely and helped us park and get around. Also, she was helpful with the tuk tuks. Definitely a place to come back to.

The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. For our group of six occupying three rooms, this was a wonderful place we truly enjoyed. It’s located outside Ella, but the 6 km walk along the railway is easy and filled with great views; the train ride is also a memorable experience and highly recommended. The accommodation feels authentic, with beautiful vistas and the gentle sounds of nature and local life. The host and his family are extremely friendly and helpful; we always felt safe and welcome. The owner even took us to a nearby tea factory for a fantastic private tour. Breakfast was a typical local meal; we apologise again to the host for not fully appreciating it. We highly recommend booking this place – every morning here is magical! 😊

A car rental service is available at the lodge. We loved Arawe and would have loved to stay longer. It’s a beautiful place with such a unique style that’s honest to the environment. It’s fabulous to support such a sustainable and community focused business. Very kind and warm welcome from all of the staff. Always there to help. The kids loved the animals. We also participated in a morning yoga session which was just me and my 7 year old daughter. The yoga teacher adapted the session wonderfully to suit us both. The breakfast was probably the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka, so much so we asked to come back for breakfast again even though we couldn’t stay a second night.

Both a bicycle rental service and a car rental service are available at the lodge. Sat on the train writing this and genuinely feel sad to have left this place. Felt like a home away from home (with better food and views). The whole family are so so kind and we felt like and extension of their family during our stay. The accommodation is lovely with your own separate bedroom and bathroom (even mini fridge) with the most beautiful terrace overlooking the hills. We had some of the best food of our whole trip here. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and they were very flexible with timings so we could get out early for walks! We also did a cooking class with the family which was a highlight and learnt how to cook so many dishes! The son gave us a tuktuk ride to the beginning of our walks and to the train station at 0630am! (and even found out for us that the train was running from the next town instead) We also rented a scooter for the day which was a great way to explore the surrounding area and they gave us lots of pointers about where to go! Cannot fault this place at all. If you are lucky enough they have availability on your dates, definitely don’t hesitate to stay!

Super clean and nice place. A big shoutout for the yoga class in there, it is super good 🙏

The perfect getaway in Ella! Located on the path to Little Adam’s Peak and within walking distance to restaurants and cafes, but in a very quiet and green area. You can watch birds, butterflies and squirrels from the confort of the patio. Beautiful, comfortable and clean room, and a Delicious breakfast served on the patio. Irosha and her mom are the best hosts ever - super kind and welcoming. Definitely the best place to stay in Ella!!!

Located in Ohiya, surrounded by mountains in the Horton Plains Range, Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa mainly serves Sri Lankan cuisine. It features a shared lounge area surrounded by tea estates/mountains. The property boasts an excellent location for hiking and trekking. We loved our stay at the Hill Safari. The views were spectacular, the staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome and the room was everything we needed. The food was also delicious and they gave us many new year treats to try. They recommended some great walking routes, talking you through the route with a hand drawn map!
