Very cozy little room with all the necessary amenities. The staff in the reception and bar are also very helpful. I also really liked the little living room they have where you can read and work.

The staff at this hotel truly went above and beyond. Each of them provided a warm welcome and were helpful and attentive to every question or request ("i'd like a sunny room"; "I left my key in my room"; etc.). The rooms were also comfy and clean and I liked the refillable water bottles.

We did the behind the scenes tour and it was boring.

We did the behind the scenes tour and it was boring. Not worth the money at all, they focus more on when it was a military base and not a federal prison. I’d also question the safety of people being able to walk around buildings as the guides were quick to warn us about flaking lead paint and not to touch but no mention of the potential for disturbed asbestos from the damaged walls and ceilings. Due to the age of the building I’d say it would be present. If you do go, do the self guided tour

Great trip out.

Great trip out. If I remember rightly They may not take Ames cards. The boat comes in slowly to the rock and is regular. There is audio directions as you go round for free and it was really interesting the diverse population imprisoned there and the statistics were amazing. Really informative.

Go really early, crowds for wait time , ferry . Long Interesting , but flies all over, from ferry to all over island , birds 🦅 fly over , watch for poop droppings , such a strong stink when you pull into island . Staff where you pick up audio tour , headsets so rude!

You can use the museum audio or your own telephone with a QR code if you do this take your own headphones for comfort. Go really early before the crowds. You can’t eat on the island. Know as much as you can before arriving it will enhance your visit

The Top of The Mark bar/ restaurant with fabulous views of the city were terrific as were the drinks and appetizers! The room was wonder with a bay view overlooking Alcatraz Island. The furnishings and bed were top notch. We had room service for breakfast which was also excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Location, location, location — two blocks from Union square. Huge common areas — living room and kitchen/dining room. Beds on one side (at least in Alcatraz room) — a lot of space.

We had a great stay in Hotel Zephyr. The hotel is in excellent location, minutes walk from Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. The room was great, we had views of Alcatraz which was cool. The outdoor play area was brilliant, the kids loved it!

Luxury in the heart of San Francisco! The rooms were well appointed, and we were upgraded to the 14th floor bay view. Incredible views of the city, waterfront, Bay Bridge, Coit Tower, Alcatraz & Marin. Very comfortable beds. It was a beautiful, sunny Sept day, and in the evening, we watched the iconic fog roll in from the ocean from the sweeping view of our room.

Location is definitely the best feature about the hotel. 10 mins walk from the pier where oyu have shops, restaurants etc. And from where you take yiur boat to Alcatraz. Close to Lombard street and if you walk up Colombus you will find great restaurants as well. Staff really nice and helpful. Room comfy enough for 4 people. You have some nice games (giant jenga) and pool tables in the lobby.

The people working there were amazing, friendly and helpful. The property’s location was perfect for my visit (game on Friday night and Alcatraz on Saturday night). Complimentary water and coffee and comfortable lounge room on ground floor. Rooms were clean and cozy, perfect for a traveler who is gone exploring most of the time and needs a nice place to return.

Anna was a dream!! She was sooo helpful with us coordinating for our son swimming ALCATRAZ!! We were in town to support him. Hotel Spero was absolutely manageable for us to enjoy this experience. We even spent time in Chinatown, which was absolutely lovely.
