Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum

It looks like a Tang Dynasty-era temple but Chinatown’s Buddhist house of worship was only consecrated in 2008. Part working temple, part museum, it’s named after the relic that resides within its sacred chambers – the left-canine tooth of Buddha. Head to the fourth-floor viewing area to see monks gather and chant around the large, lavish gold shrine that houses the enamelled antiquity.

The vegetarian restaurant in the basement is great in the morning when there are fewer people, but be prepared for the byzantine method of payment. Well worth it, though, and you can go simply for a cup of tea and a vegetarian bun. Dress appropriately at the temple - they will provide coverings for those not appropriately covered - men and women.
