    We were there during the 'Naked' Autumn festival and enjoyed...

    We were there during the 'Naked' Autumn festival and enjoyed exploring the Castle grounds at night with all the coloured lights and sounds. The complementary sake and sweet treat were a bonus! We went back in the morning to view the gardens by day and see if we could spot some local birds - didn't disappoint!

    Walking through the palace interior was very interesting as it was unlike anything we’d seen before! The surrounding grounds contained beautifully landscaped gardens and a cafe in the style of a Japanese tea house.

    You can purchase tickets for Nijo Castle online and do remember to take the full package which includes the tour of the palace (sorry, can't remember what it's called) which housed the Daimyo back then and has since been maintained. Very nice historical trip!

    The first 4 floors are just museum floors - art, history of...

    The first 4 floors are just museum floors - art, history of the castle, etc. If you just want to see the incredible panoramic view at the top get in the line for the elevator which skips those middle floors and goes to the 5th. Otherwise you will have to climb all the flight of stairs regardless if you want to see what's on them. Get there early though - the elevator line gets very long very quickly and the entrance line is just as bad. People start queuing up in line before it even opens.

    Location was excellent, close to the subway, market and important landmarks like Nijo castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful and in particular Jinjin was amazing. He went above and beyond to help me when I first arrived and always took the time and initiative to ask how I was going. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others

    The bedrooms were very roomy and the bath had a lovely deep soaking tub. Location was great to walk to Nijo castle and only a short cab ride to the downtown area. There were staff at the desk throughout the day and into the early evening which was great. Short walk to a supermarket and convenience store. Washer/dryer combo provided.

    A beautiful 3 bedroom apartment that was clean and comfortable. The rooms were large and the dining/lounge room had everything we needed including a massage chair which my son loved. It also had a big fridge to store food, and washing machine and drying rack. The coffee machine in the foyer was a nice touch! Walking distance to Nijo castle, Nishiki market, Seven Elevens and Fresco supermarket. A fantastic stay!

    I was concerned there might be a major catch due to the low price. But the place was perfect for my purpose. The room was big by japanese standards, with a large fridge freezer and an oven and there was a laundry room. The location near Nijo castle near a station was also perfect for me. This place is fantastic value for money, and I will certainly stay here again next time I pass through Kyoto.

    Fabulous small boutique hotel where every room is different. Lots of eating places nearby and very close to main shopping street and market but in a quiet neighborhood. Close to Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. We booked an executive suite which was huge. Loved our stay here.

    One of my best accommodations ever. Traditional Ryokan room with little garden , equipped and decorated with so much care. Kayoko was an excellent host and a lovely person. Prepared every day an amazing Japanese breakfast .Every day something different to taste! Very good location, short walk to Karasuma Oike Subway station and Nijo castle. Highly recommended .
