Its location is far from public transportation and only taxi or city bus access which makes it a slog to get there for little reward. I avoid taking tours there and often recommend people not to waste half a day going there and back

The most touristy stop in Kyoto that felt more like an amusement park than a temple or shrine. However, the shrine is so stunning that it's hard to complain. Don't expect much more out of this location than a few great photos of a stunning temple.

Try to go early or on a rainy day, otherwise you have to wait in long lines to take a photo, especially if it's sunny, because literally everyone and their dog visits there. But it truly is stunning and beautiful.

If you can visit in the moths of May/June, you'll be able to see the temple with nice weather and beautiful skies. Also, if you arrive in the morning, you'll be able to have great places to take pictures for yourself.
