Pompei Ruins

From the raised terraces to the oval central arena, anyone who's been to a big sporting event will feel right at home in Pompeii's Amphitheatre. The remains of this impressive structure are so well preserved it’s easy to imagine how it must have felt here when the air was charged with excitement and chanting. And though the spectators that fill the stands today probably don’t make as much noise, they’re just as interested in what they’re looking at.

    There is very little shade and all the streets are hard and uneven. Make sure you apply suncream, take your sunglasses and wear a hat/umbrella. Similarly, wear training shoes or other supportive footwear as you will live to regret it at the end of your visit.

    Amazing! Book a guide to take you around it's worth it. We only had a day there, however you really needed two. It's a shame we couldn't go to Mount Vesuvius as there had been bush fires in the area at that time.

    Be prepared for a physical experience!

    Be prepared for a physical experience! To see the extensive ruins is a lot of walking. Even if you are in good shape and can walk with full capacity, the walking is hard because the road and sidewalks are not flat and you stroll, stop/start, and turn a lot which is what makes exploring Pompeii so enjoyable--you are walking through an extensive city.

    Go very early Take own food and water and sun hat (Huge crowds made our visit less enjoyable .Very few toilets Go to Herculenium instead -Less people ,you can go in buildings Note you cannot come out and go back in either ruins . Comfortable shoes and sunscreen and hat absolutes !!

    I could live next to the ruins just to be able to visit as...

    I could live next to the ruins just to be able to visit as often as possible. The preserved frescos, murals, and mosaics are so attractive. Many structures are preserved enough that one can imagine something of the town's daily routine. I cannot wait to visit again.

    Go early in the day, it can be hot. Bring lots of water and hook up with a tour guide and allow plenty of time in certain houses. Learn a bit about Pompeii life and just try to imagine walking these streets 2000 years ago. Gaze up at Vesuvius and marvel.

    Lovely, clean apartment close to Pompei ruins, city centre and transport. Staff were very friendly. I'm so glad we stayed in Pompei. The restaurants and culture were fabulous. We were there on a Sunday night, and it felt as though every Pompei local was out. The atmosphere was amazing.

    The staff were all exceptional, we had the best service I’ve ever had in any hotel, they helped us with cases, looked after us when we checked in late 9pm as we was travelling even gave us a drink as could see we was so tired! The hotel it self is stunning and room was so clean. We visited the Pompei ruins it was about under a mile away from hotel but there was a car park next door so it was ideal trip.

    This apartment is very big. It is in very close proximity to Pompei ruins. The host was excellent, very friendly and accessible. The breakfast provided was adequate. There is a little shop downstairs which was very convenient when needed.

    Everything was perfect. Super clean, modern and confortable apartment. Our host Luigi is a very nice person, speaks English and is very helpfull. Save parking place. Delicious breakfast. Close to Pompei ruins. I definitely recomend Vaiafora. Luigi was helpfull even after we left apartment, because he send us by UPS forgotten jewellery. Very honest people!

    The location of Hotel Vittoria was ideal for us as visitors to the Pompei ruins. The internal decor of the hotel is a joy: simple, stylish, modern rooms and an elegant, spacious and classical stairway. We found a delightful restaurant for a fantastic evening meal 15 minutes walk away: crabmeat ravioli and fresh sea bream.

    When you want visit Pompei ruins, cannot be better location than Zeus. When you pay 10 EUR more, you can park your car in spacious hotel parking place whole day after accomodation a few meters from Porta Marina. For us it was perfect!

    The location of the apartment was excellent. Really close to the central Pompei station with direct access to Naples and the Amalfi coast via Salerno/ Vietri sul Mare. It was only about 10 minutes walk to the Pompei ruins. There are three supermarkets within 5 minutes walking. The flat was spotless and had everything we needed for cooking. The owner met us and made us feel very welcome as well as giving good local advice.
