Acropolis

Long before it became known as Bloomfield Falls, this magnificent waterfall was called Wujal Wujal by the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people. Hire a guide and learn why these people still consider Wujal Wujal to be sacred. Or just head down with your 4x4 and a picnic hamper, and have lunch in serious style!

Go before sunset to the 6-7.30pm time slot and watch the sun go down. September is the perfect month. Wear non slip shoes. You can buy e-tickets at the bottom. If you travel on the train, take the Acropolis station. Shorter walk from there. Take water with you. Take lots of photos. This attraction is one of our world’s wonders not to be missed!! There is also a small ceremony taking the flag down before closing time.

Very expensive for something that takes 5 mins to look around. Beautiful ancient building but a bit disappointed by the lack of the usual museum things: expositions, artefacts, hey even some shelter from the sun would be great.

Too hot during the day… go very early or very late. Don’t wait in line at the site to buy tickets. The ticket counter will just send you online. Waste of time waiting in line. Buy them online ahead of time.

The apartment is in a great location in a local neighbourhood about 25 minutes walk from the Acropolis and 5 minutes to the nearest metro station. It is comfortable and has everything you need in a home. Petros was a great host and we enjoyed an excellent meal at one of the restaurants he recommended. Communication was easy and quick. We would highly recommend staying here while visiting Athens.

Truly wonderful hotel in an excellent location, central and walking distance to the Acropolis and with an exceptional view from the terrace. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated, the staff is very nice and helpful and the breakfast is very tasty and full of local options, perfect to get to know the Greek cuisine. Having breakfast or just a drink at the terrace while overseeing Athens is a unique experience! Would definitely go back to the Pinnacle if we go to Athens again!

Great location in the heart of old Athens - close to all the main ancient sites including the Acropolis and the Agora. Also there was easy access to a supermarket and to restaurants and takeaways. Really comfortable and spacious apartment with all the facilities.

2bedroom apartment was spacious and a good size for Athens. It did have a couple of broken items like the toilet seat when we arrived. Key things to be aware of it is up a flight of stairs with no lift so you have to be 'able' to get bags up winding stairs. It is above a bakery and down from the acropolis and restaurants. Totally safe to walk at night and a good location. Breakfast was across the road at the actual hotel. It was small continental and good.

This place is absolutely in the perfect location when you have a short stay in Athens. It's close to everything! Almost all major attractions are easily accessible on foot. The metro station and one of the entrances to the Acropolis Museum are about 100 meters from the gate. The apartment is on the ground floor, overlooking the inner courtyard, it is very quiet. Everything was nice and clean. Restaurants, small shops, breakfast places, everything can be found as soon as you step out for the apartment.

Wow - this is now my go to stay when in Athens. Brilliant location - not far from Prime Ministers residence - so lots of police around - very secure. Walking distance to lots of museums / Acropolis. Lots of mini-markets / bakeries / restaurants within a few mins walk. Huge apartment. Very clear instructions on how to enter and use everything. Very clean. Host was brilliant.

Loved this apartment. Had a little shared courtyard which we sat and had coffee in the Morning. The location was excellent right in the middle of Plaka walking distance to shops, restaurants, the acropolis and other sites. For our 3 nights in Athens it was a great location to be in. You also had the metro close by.

We loved the care the crew gave us! The attention to detail and the advice. All in all it was PERFECT! I highly recommend Absolute Athens Acropolis view to anyone and everyone. The location is great and the hotel is spotless. The wine, and fruit and biscuits were added bonuses. Thank you to the team. And for keeping our luggage while we waited to get into our next place. We will be back for sure!

Go beyond the Acropolis and explore the Agora and Kerameikos, imagining yourself entering Athens along the road from the port of Piraeus, and following the Panathenaic Way to the Akropolis. Stop at the museums along the way to understand the significance of each site. Then visit the National Archaeological Museum to see that classical Athens is just one of Greece's many magnificent cultures.

If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

  • Consider visiting Athens in May or September.

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
