The new museum opened just two months before my visit in September. They were still in the process of setting up the Tut exhibit, so I was unable to see that. Even so it was easy to spend the whole day there, and there are a few restaurants inside the museum, but some of those had limited menus because they are so new.

We went to this museum because GEM was not officially opened and the Tutankhamun masks were still displayed in The Egyptian Museum. I recommend you to get a guide at least for one hour to explain you the most important pieces and then you can stay longer if you want. We found Mr. Ahmed Marei by the ticket office- very knowledgeable and passionate about the egyption history. He speaks English very well and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! :)

I was disappointed with the Egyptian museum, it looks in a pitiful state, dirty, torn linoleum. The staff, also ask for tips on the toilet inside the museum. I did not see any information boards about the exhibits.

So much stuff. So many copies of the same thing.

So much stuff. So many copies of the same thing. No labels. No cohesive narrative. Glad that the new GEM (Great Egyptian Museum) is opening now. Slowly, important displays will migrate to the GEM, I believe.

In Giza, some locals assume that all tourists have unlimited money and may charge different prices if you're a foreigner. Be cautious, as you might be asked to pay in dollars instead of the local currency. In my opinion, it's not worth going inside the pyramid—it's better to enjoy the view from the outside. A key lesson when visiting Egypt is to learn Arabic numbers, as this can help you avoid being overcharged.

The location of Cleopatra Hotel is excellent — right in the city center, making it easy to reach major attractions like the Egyptian Museum and the Nile River. The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with taxis and local recommendations. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a great view of the city skyline

As a first-time visitor to Egypt, I was grateful for how helpful and patient the hostel staff were. Being able to walk to the Egyptian Museum and find cheap street food nearby was a major advantage. It’s not luxury, but it’s a friendly and perfectly located launchpad for your Egyptian adventure.

We’re three girls from the Netherland traveling alone in Egypt, and Cairo Soul Hotel made us feel super safe and welcome. It’s right in the middle of downtown Cairo, so we could easily walk to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. The staff was amazing and a kind lady at the desk arranged a driver for our Pyramids trip. One night, they even walked us back from a Nile cruise to make sure we were okay. The rooms were comfy, with strong locks and it's safe for our stuff. The Terrace was a cool spot to chill with other travelers.
