I had a fantastic stay at this property for one night. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend because the location of the hotel is in the top center. The restaurant on the 12th floor offers an incredible panoramic view. The breakfast was extremely varied, incl. fresh fruits. The entire staff, from reception to waiters, are extremely responsive and ready to help. We also received a pleasant surprise in the room - a compliment of delicious strawberries.

    This was very poorly restored in Soviet times.

    This was very poorly restored in Soviet times. You see cement made from coal ash waste and rebar all over the place, and you can't tell what's original and what's modern rebuilding (most of it seems to be the latter, again very poorly done). However, the attached museum at the foot of the hill is quite nice and I found the staff extremely nice and enlightening (you might even get a wonderful free folk-music performance by real pros)--just don't expect much of the fortress itself. The trip out and the view from the top offer a good overview of what the modern parts of Yerevan are like.
