I arrived when the mountains were dotted with specs of yellow and left when all the leaves turned earth brown and the wind was returning them back to the soil. Every morning I would sit in a loveseat with a cup of tea, foraged from mountain herbs, watching the sun pour into the living room through the window. And then I would start work. The Wifi signal was fantastic, even for group zoom video calls. I took the bike out to the waterfalls, zooming down the rocky mountain road. I went to the lake, a canyon, interesting rock formations. I was there during mushroom season and learned which ones are edible and I prepared them using the large and fully equipped kitchen. The sun sets early over the mountain so I would start a fire and the host would check with me to make sure I could do it. At the end of the day, I was happy to sink into a thick memory foam mattress that rested on top of two other mattresses. I felt like a princess on a pea.
