Hakone Suimeiso is located a 3-minute walk from Hakone Yumoto Station and a 15-minute walk from Sounji Temple. It offers public hot-spring baths, free parking on site and free Wi-Fi access.

Guest rooms offer both air-conditioning and heating facilities. Each room is equipped with a fridge, an electric kettle and a flat-screen TV. The en suite bathroom comes with toiletries and a bathtub. The food was probably the best I had during our trip in Japan - if you stay in this Ryokan, I strongly advise you to take this option. Open air onsens were really nice and cosy. The Ryokan is really close to the train station, it was really easy to get there.

Situated in Hakone, 14 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station and 37 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, NEW OPEN『天然温泉』芦ノ湖畔の完全貸切別荘 offers a garden and air conditioning. A hot tub is available for guests. Lake Ashi is 4.9 km from the villa. The opportunity to stay in a Japanese villa, in a great location by Lake Ashi, with a kitchen and plenty of space was amazing. Then, the hot springs shower and tub was super special. It truly was healing to our bodies that were a bit worn out from travel. Yes, stay here! We hope to stay longer next time. It was a little hard to find. Yet, a kind gentleman was watching out for us and directed us.

12 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, YUPOPPO Hakone is a recently renovated property situated in Hakone and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Each accommodation at the 2-star ryokan has mountain views, and guests can enjoy access to a hot spring bath and a hot tub. The ryokan has parking on-site, a public bath and a housekeeping service. The ryokan is close to a bus station, restaurants and convenient stores, so the location is very good! It was a very nice and quiet place. The room and bathroom were very clean and the host very friendly and accommodating! The onsen, even though basic, it was amazing to relax in after a long day of sightseeing.Their theme is trains and the decorations are relevant to this but in an elegant way! It was like a Ghibli studio movie! I highly recommend this ryokan!

Guestrooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Japanese futon bedding, and come with a seating area and flat-screen TV. The en suite bathroom features a private bath and shower, with free toiletries and a hairdryer provided. Some rooms come with a private open-air bath. We arrived by bus and the bus stop is just outside so very convenient. Although the bus from ... was really crowded. Get to the bus early to get a seat because it’s a 1-hour ride and our bus was crammed full of people. It goes every half hour so if the first is full get the next. The hotel has a beautiful Japanese garden out front. I mean so beautiful! With a carp pond and a small bamboo grove. The sakura was blooming and it was magical. The hotel main building was nice and felt calm and understatedly luxurious, if a little dated. The staff was very attentive when we arrived and helped us with everything. There is a pervasive smell of sulphur but that is to be expected for the area and can't really be helped. It didn't bother us. We stayed in a traditional room with a private open air onsen. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. I think it was in the older part of the building, so the bathroom was a little dated but again, it was still lovely. And it provided all amenities we could need. I'd have loved to have seen the new buildings though and if I go again, I’d make sure to book one of them with private onsen. But for our part the room was lovely and large and the private onsen was amazing, looking over the little garden. We had our kaiseki dinner served in the room from a kind lady. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast was also served in the room, and was again beautifully presented and a traditional Japanese breakfast. The open onsens (non private) we're nice, although you have to walk between the indoor and open air onsen. So, you have to leave the indoor one and walk further down the corridor to find the open-air ones. But the private onsen in the room was the star of the show for sure.
