BelgiumShiroyamakan was AMAZING and one of the best place we ever stayed at in Japan… or in the world! It is run by a loving family who put their heart into hosting guests. They renovated the place with great taste and the perfect mixture of old and new. The aesthetic of the place is incredibly gorgeous. The ryokan also smells amazing. Our room was one of a kind too. It was 120 years old and it took our breath away the moment they opened the door.
They have 2 beautiful bathrooms and I was really happy we could use it privately as a couple.
The location is absolutely perfect. Right in front of the bus stop, at the entrance of Shirakawago. We came by car though and they provided us with a big private parking.
Dinner was one of the best we’ve had in Japan with local products and exquisite dishes.
We were blown away by the kindness and attention to details of the family. Honestly no words can do justice to how exceptional and special this place is! Go find out for yourselves but be aware that you will never want to leave!

Like the beautiful flower arrangement. Room was very spacious and with beautiful view. The private bath onsite was great. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, served with locally sourced produce, deer hunt by the brother, all dishes were unique.
