3 double rooms and 1 single room in total, 2 toilets and 1 bathroom with attached onsen. It was great for our stay as we skied during the day. Medium sized fridge and sufficient kitchen and appliances for our cooking needs. Good heating, fast and stable WiFi, everyone was comfortable! Would recommend it.

The owner was super sweet and helpful (driving to the monkey park and the train station). The onsen were great, the private onsen was almost all the time available! A spacious room and the little town felt like a little fairytale (it was snowing when we were there).

Warm welcome from our hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Great location within walking distance to snow monkey park and local town. Well appointed and spacious villa. Excellent breakfast and dinner, the latter was in the form of a tasting menu so had the opportunity to explore Japanese cuisine that we wouldn't normally opt for. On our second night we had the place to ourselves so it felt very special.

Providing mountain views, Hotel Higashidate is located in Yamanouchi and provides a wellness area with a sauna and a hot spring bath.

Location was very good for skiing. Ski room locker directly opened onto slopes and the top of gondola was steps away when returning on the last lift. Have stayed here before and the private onsen room includes a private dining room with full multi course Japanese meals. These Japanese meals are very traditional and not for the western palate but are a great experience for the adventurous. The normal rooms and shared dining work but the private dining is the real treat and why I booked. The shared onsen is also very good but maybe not great if it was busy - we were the only ones there and the sauna and outdoor pool were a bonus. If the private onsen room doesn't make too big a dent in your wallet and you want to experience traditional Japanese dining then go for it.

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

Boasting an open-air bath and views of mountain, Yamakikan is a ryokan set in a historic building in Naganohara, 48 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park.

As we don't speak Japanese, she assisted us on information for the road condition of 292 route as it was snowing and we did not have snow tyres.
