The hospitality here is like nothing we received elsewhere in the US, we felt welcomed and really enjoyed our interactions with the convivial hosts, after all, it's the people that make a place and David and Eric really made us feel right at home....

Información de la empresa

David Worthington and Eric Bigelow grew up in Northern Alabama and have spent most of their lives serving the public. They first worked together in 1981. David has loved old homes and southern architecture since childhood. In 1978, David started his career in the restaurant industry and worked in that field until 1990. David then traveled the Southeast from 1990 to 1996 while working for his uncle’s insurance company. He stayed at many B&Bs, taking notes on what to and what not to do. Since 1996, when they opened the B&B, David has served on local Chamber and CVB boards. He also served as president of the Bed & Breakfast Association of Alabama and on the committee for the Association of Lodging Professionals. Eric assisted his father with operating the family business for almost 20 years, learning everything from customer service to bookkeeping to business management. He also worked in several restaurants to sharpen culinary and customer service skills. David and Eric have been “honing” their craft for over 30 years, perfecting customer service, food service, and how to manage a business. They saved for 15 years, read every book on the subject of B&B operations, and attended local and national seminars. In 1996, they moved to Magnolia Springs to renovate the original “Sunnyside Hotel”, circa 1897. The “Magnolia Springs Bed and Breakfast” first opened in 1997. David and Eric share a passion for the home that quickly spreads to their clientele. As two of the most attentive and engaging innkeepers imaginable, they will make you feel at home right away. These true southern gentlemen are a treasure of local history and trivia, and they take great pride in the business, community, and the area in which they live. Based on your interests, they offer suggestions of where to go and what to see and do. A positive experience is their primary goal from the moment you arrive. Fittingly, the front yard sign proudly boasts their motto: “Classic Southern Hospitality.”!

Información del alojamiento

Nine miles north of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach lies an oasis called Magnolia Springs. With an avenue of stunning live oaks, Magnolia Springs is the last community with year-round mail by boat on the Magnolia River, a lazy river that flows through Magnolia Springs into Weeks Bay and on to Mobile Bay. Greenery abounds around every corner, to the point where it feels like the city is practically hidden among the trees. Only about 800 people live in Magnolia Springs full-time. As you pass under the canopy of overhanging trees, you may wonder whether you'll ever want to leave. Each room has individual character while all share that same cozy feel, tastefully decorated, spacious, and offering big comfy beds that swallow you in luxurious quilts, soft high thread count linens, and pillows. Rooms are equipped with a private bath, fan, and white noise machine offering a deeper sleep. Awaken to a gourmet flair that you’d expect from a world-class B&B, not in its formality, but in its presentation and quality. Great care is given while preparing from scratch a two-course breakfast that will have you extending your stay just to experience another meal! From the fruit plate to the main course, it is a breakfast fit for a king. Breakfast fare is served at the guests’ leisure from 8-9:30. If you want a vacation that is all about slowing down and appreciating the finer things in life, then book a trip to a place where time seems to stand still (in a good way) and you're far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. It's a place that looks like a postcard, no matter where you are. One of the main reasons for this town to earn the moniker of "Alabama's prettiest" is that it's situated along the Magnolia River. It's home to countless magnolia, oak, and cypress trees, giving the entire area a verdant, almost fantastical vibe. Whether you're looking to sit next to the water, read a book at a world-class bed and breakfast, or indulge in fresh Gulf seafood, Magnolia Springs has it all.

Información de la zona

Magnolia Springs is a place that allows you to sit back and watch the world go by. It doesn't have any major attractions or infrastructure. Instead, it's a quiet slice of life that can act as an escape from the modern world. But, there is enough within a 15-mile radius of the Inn to keep you entertained for a week! With Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fairhope, and Foley, there is more to see and do than you can "shake a stick at"! As far as dining goes in Magnolia Springs, the best place to get Gulf seafood is Jesse's Restaurant. Both lunch and dinner are spectacular, with menu options like crawfish mac and cheese, pan-seared redfish, or diver scallops. You can also indulge in steak or oysters if you're feeling fancy. From Fairhope to Gulf Shores world world-class restaurants abound! Speaking of Gulf Shores, it's also one of Alabama's most underrated cities and offers pristine beaches and access to the Gulf coastline. So if you want more than just a river to dip your toes into, you can drive about half an hour south and be on the beach. Or you could take a ferry from Mobile to the nearby paradise of Dauphin Island. There’s so much to explore along Alabama’s Gulf Coast: Get out on the water with exciting activities including dolphin cruises, fishing and parasailing; Explore beautiful natural areas by foot, bike, boat or Segway; Enjoy some fantastic meals and cocktails in countless restaurants and lively bars; Golf, history, shopping & so much more to discover. A short drive from Magnolia Springs lies the beautiful town of Fairhope, AL. If you are looking for the ideal romantic day trip with excellent dining, unique boutiques, and inviting streets to wander, then a visit to this charming town needs to be on your agenda. Only an hour from Magnolia Springs is the historic town of Mobile. With a rich history, vibrant dining scene, and beautiful location at the mouth of 5 rivers, a day trip to Mobile will reward visitors with something fun and new for everyone in the group.
