Tavistock House Hotel is a Grade 11 Listed Townhouse built by the Duke of Bedford circa 1820. We are located on Plymouth Road opposite Tavistock Tennis club and Meadowlands Park. The townhouse hotel is privately owned and has been lovingly restored offering individually designed rooms in sumptuous surroundings where you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome. Each room has a bespoke mix of furniture, Hypnos Lansdowne Cashmere beds, 500 thread count Egyptian cotton linens, complimentary hi speed WiFi, 40 inch Samsung Smart 3D TVs with free access to Netflix so you can enjoy movies and catch up on programs at your leisure. In addition all the rooms have personal tablets to use with free digital newspapers, upgrade to the Deluxe and Luxury rooms which include access to a huge range of free magazines. The rooms range from the cosy Classic King to our Luxury Super King all providing modern en-suite facilities, rain showers, Noble Isle toiletries and dressing gowns. You can also enjoy a freshly cooked breakfasts and a light lunch in the elegantly decorated lounge/dining room which has an original fireplace, cornices and panelled walls. Due to our great location and only a short walk away from an abundance of restaurants and gastro pubs we do not serve evening meals. Our central location gives you an ideal base to explore Tavistock which is a World Heritage site (the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake) with stunning architecture, individual shops, restaurants and the Pannier Market as well as the beautiful surrounding countryside. Tavistock is nestled on the edge of Dartmoor and only 30 minutes drive from Plymouth making it a great base to explore Devon and Cornwall. There is also a vast array of activities to enjoy in the local area including tennis, golf, fishing and of course beautiful walks across Dartmoor, so whether you are staying on business or having a short break we aim to make your stay with us relaxing and memorable.

Straddling the fast flowing river Tavy, below the western edge of Dartmoor, Tavistock stands in the heart of an area of tremendous natural beauty and is a classic West Country Market Town. The old streets radiate from Bedford Square and contain shops for every taste and need. Within easy walking distance from the hotel you can find an eclectic mix of small independent shops, including delicatessens famous throughout the South West including the award winning Pannier Market.
