Whimsy by the Peaks is my cosy dog-friendly country retreat with hillside views in the village of Tansley on the edge of Matlock and the Peak District National Park. The old stone cottage has 3 bedrooms (a king, a superking that can also be a twin, and a single), shower room, kitchen with a convivial farmhouse dining table, sitting room with comfy sofas and a log burner, and a boot room. Go on lovely country walks straight down the lane from the cottage, or relax in the enclosed garden with dining terrace and lovely views. Two excellent dog friendly pubs serve food in the village - the Gate Inn, a few minutes walk, and the Tavern. Matlock town and train station is a short drive. The cottage is also within half an hour of Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall by car.
