Definitely not touristy location. Yes, some small hotels, shops, locals businesses and homes of the locals. Very friendly and safe area. Walking distance from Taksim Square (metro) and 3 stops from the Grand Bazaar. It's a very convenient location for public transportation to anywhere in Istanbul. Clean rooms!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, warm and had all the things we needed. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was big and tasty with a bit of everything. The view from the rooftop was nice even on the rainy days. The staff was helpful and friendly. The area was quiet but still close to the main attractions and easy access to the tram.

Friendly staff-the owner invited me to join him and some of his friends for Turkish breakfast since I arrived well before check-in. Loads of free cay to start the day as well. He moved me from the dorm to a 2 bed room because of a cancellation so I just shared with 1 other girl and ended up with a private bathroom. Very comfortable bed, loads of pillows, large wardrobe. They also were helpful if you needed advice on anything so those new to Istanbul will be in good hands. It’s also literally a block from Istiklal Caddesi so couldn’t be easier to get to fun shopping, nightlife, public transportation options (buses and metro) as well as the airport shuttles which leave from Taksim. 2 good convenient stores next door and an awesome kebab shop.
