Apart than the house being really beautiful, each time discovering another artistic detail, the location was perfect and central to beach and touristic attractions yet also a high end residential area. I asked for a pancake breakfast and it was delicious and the hosts were a couple that were inviting, friendly and always eager to help. I unfortunately only booked 2 nights but upon arrival I took pictures of this gem and sent it to my close friends. I am lucky to have found this place and will most certainly come back

A nice, quiet place to stay in the Cinnamon Gardens away from the frenetic city center. The rooms are large and bright and the house is lovely. The host is very wonderful and helpful, a delight to talk to. We really enjoyed our stay there. We’d be happy to stay there again on our next trip to Sri Lanka. There is not much to eat around the guest house, it is a quiet residential neighborhood with sports fields and offices and such. It is quite pleasant to walk around. A 200-300 rupee tuk tuk ride will bring you to several places to eat, bank etc. We highly, highly recommend eating at Ran Bath Organic which was recommended to us by the host. The food there is perhaps the best we had in our entire trip. Also, a short walk up Maitland is the Glomark supermarket where you can find a wide range of items, as well as alcohol and a pharmacy. Upstairs is a small food court. The food doesn’t really stand out, but if you don’t want to go very far to get something to eat, that’s the place to go. Skip the laundry at the side, it’s very expensive and very slow.

At the homestay, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. The owner is really doing everything to make you feel comfortable. You can speak with her more or less anytime and she will take time to answer all your questions. I really appreciated how she adjusted to my needs and offered me a room which was perfect for me. Her son was also very supportive and even drove me to the immigration centre early in the morning. Both of them were really helpful. Thank you very much! If you are a dog lover, ask if you can play with their really sweet golden retriever (you might not see him, as he is most of the time on the backyard of the building). If you are strong enough, ask if you can take him for a walk. He will be very grateful for that.

Arcade Independence Square is 4 km away and Sinhalese Sports Club is 4.1 km from the guest house. Aathma is a feast for the eyes and the heart. The setting is so lovely with lake views and peaceful gardens. As others have said there is always something new, beautiful or quirky to catch your eye. The hotel feels like a treasured family home in which you are an honoured guest. The staff are excellent, so professional and competent but friendly and fun as well. Bohoma stoothi Imran and Geeth for your outstanding care of us. The food was also some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka.
