Very quiet and beautiful stay. Spacious room with bathroom and terrace. Friendly and helpful hosts. Very tasty and big homemade dinner (rice and curry). Reasonable price to rent a good bike. Totally recommend to stay and relax. Not far from the old city ( you can go on bike around a lake - very nice ride, also great place to watch sunset and it is just behind the accomodation)

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. I only had one night here but I loved this place. I was given a welcome drink, the room was spotlessly clean, the shower was fantastic, the TV worked, and the bed and pillow were the most comfortable I've had in Sri Lanka. Amazing value for money.
