The hosts took such good care of us and made sure we had a wonderful time here! The futon beds were very comfortable. The piano added an extra touch and my mother and I enjoyed playing it a little.

Friendly clean property with delicious Japanese breakfast. The kids also loved it. Room was a good size for all 4 of us. The owners were fantastic, giving us great advice on travelling around Kyoto with the kids, great restaurant recommendations and advice on attractions. The kids loved their Doraemon gift, so very kind thank you!

The location is great. Lovely area, very quiet, and only around a 20-minute walk to Kyoto Station or Nishiki Market (it's right in the middle). Amenities are provided and you can help yourself to tea, coffee, laundry detergent, etc. at the front desk. The room was super clean and spacious. Comfortable bed. I booked one of the bottom floor rooms which had a fantastic bathroom. The bath was hinoki wood and quite big - highlight of the room for sure (not all rooms have this though)! Very traditional feel and a great "authentic" bathing experience if you're too shy to go to an onsen! Kevin is such an amazing host. He's very kind - he reached out to me over WhatsApp shortly before our stay to give me all the check-in details and some seasonal sightseeing recommendations! He also dropped us off at the train station at the end of our stay. This place is an absolute gem, especially considering the service and how reasonably priced it is. The only downside was that I stayed here for just one night. If I'm ever in Kyoto again, I'll definitely return to Hatsune Guesthouse :D Thank you so much Kevin!

great location! About 5 minutes walk to tsujiki market, train station and bus stops. Walking distance from several famous shrines and temples, and a lot of local eateries within walking distance as well. Great beer just down the road too. Host is extremely helpful, friendly, and responsive even late at night. Was extremely lucky to get a room here during peak season considering they have a total of only four rooms. Rooms here are also more spacious than many hotels I've stayed at in kyoto and Japan in general. Will definitely come back!

The breakfast was nice, and everything was very clean. The shared kitchen, showers, and restrooms were all kept in excellent condition. I highly recommend this place for solo travelers. I was assigned a room with a window, so even though it was small, it didn’t feel stuffy at all. It’s also a great value for those planning a longer stay.

The homeless and the couple that run it are the kindest most welcoming people ever. So helpful and so generous they gave us tea and Japanese food to take back with us. Will definitely stay there again if ever in Kyoto. Perfect in between place in Kyoto

The hosts were so kind, and had such great eye for detail. From the bathroom slippers that they gave to us to the help we received when booking a rental bike - they did everything and so much more! They even gave us a lift to the station, which was very appreciated. Arigatou gozaimasu!
