I love everything about the property, very close to the village where you can find supermarket, restaurants, and any other kind of tour that I was looking for. 1min walking to the beach , not packed beach and with very chilled vibes, perfect for couples and families. The rooms are beautiful and comfortables, details oriented. Pool just for us anytime we wanted , and the fact that they don’t do the cleaning everyday for the climate impact we found it very ecological and nice, something that we appreciate.

At the guest house, all units are soundproof. It was a wonderful place to relax, right by the ocean. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was truly special. Olivia and her husband were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel completely at home. The village is small but charming, with a beautiful beach and a few cozy restaurants. Mama Root offers breakfast, and upon request, serves delicious lunch and dinner. While there isn’t a 24/7 kitchen, food and drinks are always within easy reach at the nearby beach spots. Overall, we had an amazing time unwinding at Mama Root. Thank you, Mama & Papa Root, for opening your lovely home to us!

The food was absolutely delicious — the tuna tartare, in particular, was unforgettable!

I would highly recommend this property for couples looking for a quiet and comfortable stay in Zanzibar. The property was pretty and the rooms were equipped with everything you need. The food was delicious and the portions were big! The hosts were very accommodating I had some troubles with my flight I was due to arrive very early in the morning then due to disruptions I came very late at night but the hosts were ready to accommodate me at both times, at no extra cost.

He also checks the weather conditions beforehand to ensure it’s safe to go out on the ocean your safety always comes first. They’ll also recommend restaurants that suit your budget and even give you the chance to experience authentic local spots for a real taste of the island. We absolutely loved it.
