Located in Koyasan, Koyasan Guest House Tommy is a recently renovated accommodation, 38 km from Kishi Station and 45 km from Matsushita Park. The 1-star guest house has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom and free WiFi. The guest house features family rooms. The location was impeccable, the guest house was very clean and had everything we needed for our brief stay. It had one room with two beds that could fit easily 3 people and the sofas also turned into a bed. But what I liked the most was the availability of the owner who greeted us and gave us incredible advice not only physically but also online. He was truly kind with us and we will not forget this stay at Koyasan.

This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property. I stayed in the shared rooms. I had plenty of privacy as each bed was in a walled-off cubby hole. The three Onsen on site were excellent and the bus stop was a couple of minutes walk away. It’s situated right along the Kumano Kodo route and perfect for a day or two hiking.

The building and the rooms are super traditional and charming and spacious and comfortable. There was a shaved ice machine and prepared ice and sirup, very tasty! Fantastic location, there is a great temple right next to it. The host was super friendly and helpful, he made the stay great!

The surroundings and the preserved house was quiet, exquisite and comfortable. There are only 2 bedrooms in the house and guests are given free access to the living and dining room. The manager Hitomi and Hikaru speak very good English and were hospitable and personable. Gave my plasters for my muscle aches and helped to wash my clothes and delivered to my room within 30min. The provided breakfast was delicious. The back house also holds a treasure trove of old books and is more relaxed.

Very nice host and the food and bento was delicious and perfectly made for kumano kodo. I highly recommend

Situated in Hongu, 14 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine and 21 km from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, Guest House Takiyoshi offers free WiFi and air conditioning. It is set 26 km from Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum and features a lift. Shingu Castle Ruins Park is 37 km away and Fudarakusanji Temple is 47 km from the ryokan. This hotel is run by the kindest couple, and I’m still thinking about how good dinner and breakfast were. Some of the best meals of my trip! You can also order lunch for the trail. The onsen was wonderful after a long day hiking. Room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet, it was compact and simple, very clean, with everything you might need, including yukatas for dinner and towels for the onsen. Shared toilets and sinks in the hall were never busy; there are two communal showers inside the onsen. I asked about laundry and they took mine and washed it for me within a few hours! The bus stop to Shingu or Hongu was a one-minute walk from the hotel. Yunomine Onsen was such a unique town, I feel lucky to have stayed here and enjoyed such great hospitality!
