Comfortable Accommodations: Onsen Guest House Tsutaya in Hakone offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. Only some rooms include a balcony, tatami floors, and free toiletries. The greatest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The location is perfect- it's near the bus stop and pretty close to Open-Air Museum. I also loved the onsen, both of them were clean and nice. The common area is cool and everything you need is there. I absolutely recommend it!

Super clean, the room is very spacious, has two shared-but-private onsen baths (meaning you can lock it for your own use). Kitchen fully equipped with grill, microwave oven, pan stoves, dishes and cutlery, fridge. The toilets are shared but there are plenty in the inn. Kotatsu in the shared living room! Ayana san, the person taking care of the place, is super helpful and friendly (she gave me a lot of tips about the local baths, to contacting the bus station to make sure I got the right information for onward journey).

Set in Nikko, COZY Inn Free Shuttle service is a recently renovated accommodation, 12 km from Tobu Nikko Station and 14 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The air-conditioned accommodation is 11 km from Nikko Station, and guests can benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The guest house features a hot tub and a shared kitchen. A traditional home situated in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood about 10 minutes away from train station. There’s a communal kitchen and living room for use as well as a private onsen that you can reserve. Hiro, the host, is very accommodating and will provide rides when needed. His English is really good and his sense of humour even better. His knowledge of the area and itinerary suggestions worked very well for us. We’d highly recommend the local izakaya 800m from his place.

The owner was super friendly. The place was super clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. Overall was a very nice place. Even some snacks are offer for free which was a nice touch :)
