Yuji and Junko were so welcoming and helpful. We had planned to bike the Shimanami Kaido and Yuji was very responsive and helped us with bike rentals and luggage transportation. They picked us up from the ferry terminal and offered to drive us to the shops to get rain gear as there was some rain in the forecast the next day. They provided dinner recommendations and gave us little snacks to try. Junko made a delicious breakfast the next morning before our bike ride. The location is a short walk from the main shops/bike rental (~10 mins). Again they offered to drive us, but we didn't mind a short walk. Yuji and Junko are great hosts and we loved getting to know them. This was one of our favourite experiences on this trip. It felt more personal and homey than the hotels we had been staying at.

The dinner and breakfast were absolutely amazing and high quality, made with love. In the USA, it would cost more than the total price of this stay at Sayomi's house. The house is a peaceful location up a hill with incredible views and solitude. It's perfectly clean and the bath facilities are high tech and modern, while the home itself has a warm, traditional and home-like feel. Sayomi is incredibly kind and generous. The food is unbelievable. She doesn't speak much English but will still try and communicate in a friendly way, and you can have a good conversation with translator apps. There's also a massage chair and the bath is great for after a long bike ride. Staying here fueled me to finish the difficult bike ride and it is one of my highest recommendations in Japan.

Fabulous stay here, cannot recommend enough. The main thing that stood out for us was the service, the man who showed us round was so helpful, gave us really detailed directions to places, restaurant recommendations with little details, and helped us hire bikes and a canoe. Nothing was too small for him to help us with, and he even fixed the outside shade covering in the pouring rain!! The villa itself was perfect for what we needed, right on the beach (check for jellyfish!) and on the main cycle routes. Shops about a 20-30min cycle ride away, and there were great facilities for cooking. We had a BBQ three out of the four nights we stayed. Overall an 11/10 stay and would definitely recommend, and would love to stay again if we ever come back to Japan!! Thank you!!

We only stayed at the guesthouse for one night, but we really enjoyed our time. Besides the comfortable bed and the great included breakfast, there was coffee, tea, and even a popcorn machine with everything you need to make your own popcorn! It's a family-run business, and everyone is incredibly kind and helpful.

Very nice hostel. The layout of the cubicles were nice. I loved the bunk bed style with the desk beneath it. The wood finish also made it feel very comfy. The beds themselves also have a wooden sliding door that helps to separate it from the other beds. The bed was comfy and the duvet was nice and thick. It's self check in on arrival but the owner still was there to see me and help me get my check in done more smoothly. Many dining options in the surrounding areas making it easy to look for food. Showers were nice and clean with good water pressure. The hot water made it an excellent place to shower, especially after a long day of cycling. They also have laundry facilities if needed (didn't use it this time though)

The building had an antique and rustic feel to it, and we thought the design and use of space was really smart and creative. The indoor and outdoor lounge spaces for guests were very cozy and the host was kind to tell us more about the concept behind the guesthouse and give us recommendations for the area. Onomichi is so lovely, we easily could have stayed another day! Our room was very comfortable and spacious too.

It was nice that we were able to store our bags early (before check-in) at the café in front of the guest house. And our bags were transferred to the guesthouse. Spacious common lounge area on the ground floor.

Great host, gave us a whole series of recommendations on nearby restaurants and attractions. Also let us into the property early which was much appreciated as it was raining cats and dogs outside and we were on bikes. Supplied toiletries were above and beyond expectation

Wonderful guest house. A lot of thought has been put into the design of this charming property. I loved the manga and books surrounding the bunk beds. It is ideally located in the main shopping arcade, close to everything. The owner was very friendly and helpful and gave me a useful map to do the Temple Walk. Will definitely stay here again.

The location was perfect, right in the middle of a quaint shopping district where people sold handmade items. The guest house itself was lovely and provided lots of maps. The common room was homey and the kitchen was set up in an organized way.

Very kind owner who welcomed us in this nice little guest house, in the charming town of Setoda. The room and the shared spaces were clean, well equipped, the bed was comfortable and the location was nice. Bonus point for the cute cat ! Thank you for your hospitality and advice on places to visit !

The hostel is right in front of a quiet beach, in a very calm neighborhood. You can hear the waves at night, the birds in the morning, pet the local cat or even sheep. The common space is big and comfortable. The host is really nice, and we were very grateful when she gave us a ride. (the bike location center or supermarkets are a 45 min walk, add 5 min for the ferry to go to Onomichi centre). The traditional japanese room is quite big, with view on the sea. If you have a car this is a perfect place to stay. 100% would come again!
