I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Idealmente establecido en el distrito de Pingyao Ancient City de Pingyao, Shanxi Merchant Mansion está situado a 4 minutos a pie de Rishengchang Former Bank, a 400 metros de Pingyao Ancient City... Wonderful hospitality from the moment we arrived. Staff were most welcoming, accommodation quaint, yet modern. Lovely afternoon tea was a nice touch. Transfer from train station to hotel and back was most appreciated. Just made the holiday so much better!

The hotel is located in a very representative part of the city, with the river boulevard, a large shopping gallery, a park, and a plaza with museums and a concert hall all nearby. Taiyuan does not have good public transport, so taxis are the only viable option from the railway stations. The room is spacious and offers the quality one would expect at this price and star level. The staff speak passable English – something that is, unfortunately, becoming increasingly rare in China these days.

The location is really nice, in the old city. The staff was amazing, very helpful and nice, made us feel at home. The room was clean and confortable. Breakfast was also good, american style.

This must be one of the most beautiful places in the world to stay. Intimate, charming and authentic. The magic is even bigger at night. A dream! Friendly people, nice location, good restaurant.

El Water Hotel, Pingyao se encuentra en la ciudad de Pingyao, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, y ofrece alojamiento y WiFi gratuita en todo el recinto. Muy buen hotel, justo donde comienza el centro histórico, nos escribieron para recogernos en la estación de tren y la verdad que fue muy cómodo, también nos dejaron en la estación al final de la estancia. Para el desayuno nos dieron bastante cantidad y la habitación es muy espaciosa y cómoda. Todo muy limpio! La chica de la recepción nos explicó todo genial y nos recomendó cosas!
