The hotel sitting over a petrol station is quirky and a must for motor fans. However it’s the staff that make it. They are so helpful. The hotel says it’s pet friendly and it truly is. Treat and bowls for the dog on arrival. Yet if you came here without a pet you would not know it. The rooms are immaculate with really funky decoration. The personalised decor (cushions, mags) depending on where you’re from is a nice touch. The local area is quiet but the hotel has a recommended pizza place which is a must see. Food is good and staff are also very friendly.

Hospederia Pax is within 800 metres of León Cathedral, San Isodoro Church and the adjancent Pantheon of the Kings of León. The property is located in the main wing of a restored monastery that is still active. Location is beautiful and quiet. Staff are very friendly and helpful. View from the rooms onto the square below is very nice. The rooms are clean, spacious and feel modern. I’ve heard the restaurant for the hotel is good but I didn’t dine there. I did have the continental breakfast which was good.

El Lagar de Isilla is an exclusive hotel, set in the winery of the same name. Aimed especially at wine lovers, it features wine-making themed décor like barrel tables. It offers free Wi-Fi and free parking. Our eighth visit to this hotel on our way down and back from Southern Spain. On our return journey this year we had a wonderful room with a free standing bath. Every room here is a delight and a surprise. Comfortable lounge area and a cosy bar. Breakfast is great too.

A luxurious place, with a spacious, beautifully fitted out room. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the car parking via elevator worked well. We need to stay longer next time!
