Prince Albert is a beautifully well kept and maintained small Karoo town at the foot of the Swartberg Pass. With many accommodation options, a number of really good restaurants and coffee shops, and art/curio shops, it is a wonderful place for a long weekend break, or an extended stay when passing through. We stayed at the Olive Thrush Cottage, just a short walk from the Main Street, and it was very peaceful and comfortable. We ate at the Rude Chef restaurant for dinner - very relaxed and with great food and a great vibe. The Swartberg Hotel is across the street is also excellent, with a groovy gin bar and very nice coffee shop. Walking around Prince Albert is the way to see the town properly, and visitors should include the short traverse up and along the Robert Gordon Koppie ridge walk which give amazing views of the surrounding mountains and of the town. It's an easy and short climb with a well marked path - highly recommended. When heading south from Prince Albert, we recommend taking the Swartberg Pass for the views - it is gravel and a bit steep in places with tight hairpin bends, but can be taken in a normal car - no need for 4x4.

I have stayed in Prince Albert about 4 times now and the accomodation is not up to the standard of the photo's of the venue's. I am thinking that Prince Albert is becoming overrated and accommodation (for what you get is becoming exhorbitant).

Our stay was very short but we experienced the feeling of 'community' - a friendly community very proud of Prince Albert. Will definitely go back. The meal at Prince Albert Cafe was delicious - a delightful little fine dining gem. Our stay at Prince Albert Country Stay exceeded expectations - friendly staff and very warm and welcoming owner.

Prince Albert is a must visit. It’s a quaint little town offering loads of charm and character. Surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges and charming restaurants serving home made deliciousness from yummy pizzas to scrumptious burgers and don’t get me started on the home baked goodies. Add this to your visit. Won’t disappoint

A lovely town, with character, and an amazing twisty drive with majestic mountains and views using either a good tarred road or an absolutely stunning dirt road. A must-do! The charity shop was a great surprise, too!

Exceptional Stay at De Bergkant Our experience at De Bergkant was outstanding. Tracy, the manageress, was exceptional – warm, professional, and truly attentive to every detail. The accommodation was beautiful and spotless, with a relaxing and elegant atmosphere. But the real surprise was the breakfast – easily the best we’ve ever had at a guesthouse or hotel. Delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. A truly special place. We’ll definitely be back!

The hosts had provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. They'd thought of everything, there was even advice posted on the outside of the front door regarding who to contact if you lock yourself out. The location is perfect, in a lovely quiet road with outdoor seating in a secluded, beautiful garden. Inside is really comfortable with a variety of seats. Prince Albert is a stunning small town and deserves at least a 2-day visit.
