    Beautiful, clean little town.

Beautiful, clean little town. Quant little clothing shops, beautiful to visit. Maaaany bargains to be found. Mostly, friendly people. Only at Jimmys restaurant, did we have very poor reception, but we didn't let that upset us, we went and had a Fantastic meal at Four Cousins . Our meals at the coffee shop in Roberstons, Strictly Coffee, were out of this World, magnificent service and hearty, delicious meals.

The restaurants, bars and cafes were all very welcoming and served delicious food and great wines. The locals have time to chat and share what they love about their town and why they live there. There is a real sense of community.

I have been to McGregor a few times in the past, the last being 11 years ago. I enjoyed the stay but felt that the area has deteriorated since my last visit. Entrance to town messy and unkempt. However, restaurants were good and a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary was a highlight.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets.

Do not expect ATM's and supermarkets. It is a sleepy town with fantastic places to eat and relax. Safe. The surrounding area of farms is verdant and beautiful. There are many many choices available for accommodation.

McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting.

A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

Wow absolutely stunning, Stacey has a flare for interior decorating and her 33 years in hotel business and servicing customers is beyond 5star , all the attention to detail in the decor, the little extras , the complementary muscadel and sherry . Breakfast was delicious and presentation was top notch this exceeds any 5star hotel accommodation. Walking distance to pubs and restaurants and Saturday market . Recommend the Fat ladies Arms for pizzas. This place is a must stay for Mc Gregor. We we in mc Gregor for a family wedding at Whipstock

To visit the quant village of McGregor, The Grand Marigold is a very good choice. We had the double room with private bathroom. As we were the only guests, we were lucky and could use the shared facilities (kitchen, lounge, terrace and swimming pool) on our own. The terrace and pool are ideal to enjoy the peacefulness of McGregor, the room had all we needed and the hosts are very helpful and welcoming. Certainly recommended.

We had such a lovely stay in McGregor. Gordon, the host, was wonderful. He was so helpful! He sent us information beforehand and was there to meet us to check-in and show us all we needed to know. The place was lovely, clean and comfortable and in walking distance from town. The place had everything we needed and there was even some fruit and treats. We took our pooch with us and he had the best time!

We stayed in one of the self catering units. Plenty of space, comfy bed in a lovely renovated cottage. The farm is very old and traditional with beautiful views of the mountains. Very close to the Boesmanskloof hike and Vrolijkheid reserve and McGregor is close by for restaurants. Sindy manages the accommodation and is very helpful and friendly!
