Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Lot's a quirky spots to visit, some great food, and perfect for walks and biking. Diesel and creme was a hit, food was great. Karoo hotel is great spot too for a dinner or to watch some sport. Barrydale has some quirky little shops, coffee shops and a very interesting African art museum and curio shop. Everything closes at 4 p.m. along the main road, so the Karoo Art Hotel is a good choice for dinner. The White House is an absolute Gem on its on hidden deep in Barrydale. Our stunning host made our stay the most pleasant and easiest one ever !!! Our new little friend , Bella the cat kept us company for the entire time we were there. There’s so much to do in Barrydale , we had so little Time to do everything ! The room is decorated very tastefully. It is very spacious and quite. The bath is modern and comfy. She welcomed us when we arrived. Gave us ideas where to go. The town offers so much. There was a family with children who were very boisterous into the late evening and a number of guests in Barrydale for a high school gathering who were up late and making a noise on the other side of our room.
