    Great food choices in town and close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge without the busy-ness of those towns right outside your door. Lots to do in town if you are into hiking or nature - and plenty of bars if not!

    If you want to avoid the crowds and traffic of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and still be close to theGreat Smokey Mountains National Park then Townsend is the perfect place to stay. Cades Cove is only a few miles away

    Townsend is a great place to stay if you are averse to the...

    Townsend is a great place to stay if you are averse to the craziness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We visited the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, which was very well done. We hiked the Cades Cove Loop Road, which unfortunately was not closed to traffic on Wednesdays in May, as it has been in past years. We went early and it was fine - saw 9 bears.

    Townsend is a small town and is a nice place to stay if you don't want to deal with a lot of traffic, the down side is that eating options are somewhat limited. I usually stay here when visiting the GSMNP as it is close to some of my favorite areas of the park.

    I have been to Townsend many times.

    I have been to Townsend many times. It is a quick trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area to enjoy all the activities there from Townsend. Townsend is a slower pace and much less traffic. Close to Cades Cove my favorite part of Smoky Mountain National Park.

    Hotel had a good location for hiking at cades cove.expect a drive to PF and G- berg The town is small and seems like everything is older. The people we met everywhere were super nice Cades cove is amazing and Smokey MT access is ideal. Apple deli had great food

    Hotel was in a fantastic position, lovely rooms with plenty of space. Set in beautiful grounds with stunning views. Property is currently undergoing renovation and I am sure will be a 5 star experience when finished. Will definitely stay again on our next trip over from England

    Great cabin, great location. Townsend is a great base to explore the park. The cabin has a nice kitchen and we also loved the BBQ on the deck. We shopped at IGA n Townsend which had everything we needed and very friendly staff. We also loved Apple Valley for coffee.

    The location was fabulous in Townsend. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were just right. The room was clean and large. It was wonderfully quiet. It was close enough to all the attractions.
