    Lake is a big attraction and busy for the holiday week.

    Lake is a big attraction and busy for the holiday week. Hiking to waterfalls was enjoyable. Chamber of Commerce provided much useful information. Cupid Falls was flowing good and easy to get to. We had dinner at Bronco's attached to the motel.

    Hiawassee is one of the prettiest little towns in the USA.

    Hiawassee is one of the prettiest little towns in the USA. There are lake and mountain views everywhere you drive. There are plenty of restaurants and shops for your visit, as well as hiking trails and scenic views for great photo ops.

    I actually live in the area, but needed to stay at a hotel...

    I actually live in the area, but needed to stay at a hotel due to snow preventing me from getting to my cabin. Hiawassee sits on Lake Chatuge in the Blue Ridge Mountains. During the non-winter months there are plenty of outside activities to do including hiking the Appalacian Trail which passes nearby, fishing and other water sports. The North GA Fairgrounds is located there for all types of activities and performances. Small town friendliness which is a great improvement over Illinois/Chicago area where i moved from in 2020.

    Gorgeous views of lake and mountains.

    Gorgeous views of lake and mountains. But this town is D*E*A*D. If you want quiet solitude this is the place. I wanted a getaway from Atlanta and hadn’t been to Hiawassee for several years. The drive on Monday was beautiful. But…. I was the only person at the motel. The top 6 restaurants in Hiawassee were closed until Wednesday. I finally found a pretty good BBQ restaurant in Hayesville 15 minutes away. Most of the buildings in the area are closed or abandoned. Really sad!

    We were there less than 24 hours due to work interference :)...

    We were there less than 24 hours due to work interference :) So we didn't actually do anything except he walked to concert and felt very safe. I stayed at Lodge and enjoyed the breathtaking view.

    We have traveled to the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival at...

    We have traveled to the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival at the Fairgrounds several times. Huddle House, Sundown Grill, Dillard House among others. It's easy to get around Hiawassee and the surrounding areas. Haven't encountered anything to avoid.

    We loved how quaint the lodges were. The breakfast was adequate with choices of cereals, bagels, muffins, cakes, fruit, along with tea/coffee available all day and fruit juices for breakfast. The decor was in keeping with the hotel and was kept very clean at all times. Lovely lounge area with roaring fireplace. Staff were always very friendly and on hand if you needed anything. Location was perfect for our son at Young Harris College. Views were amazing We will definitely be returning.

    Really nice location, we had a great view on the lake from our room. The AC worked well and room was quite comfortable, not too small. Plenty of parking spaces outside. Hotel personal were really nice. Hot drink /coffee tea all the time available for free in the lobby.
