Nice little town. Plenty of shopping and grocery stores. River road and pretty bridge. Grafton is close. Has a riverboat ride zip lining etc Per Marquette is at the end of Grafton hiking has a lodge. Finding out the history of Alton was a real eye-opener.
Finding out the history of Alton was a real eye-opener. To know that Alton was one of the safe havens for the underground railroad during the times of Slavery that negros found safety and help from the locals, was heart warming. That one of the tallest men, Robert Wadlow was a native. I love to drive down tbe river road , and driving around the towns by the river, such nice older homes and alton has so many historic buildings. A great place to be , don't forget to stop in at fast Eddie's, live music.Guest review byShannonUnited States

We were there for a baseball tournament and if we won we would need to stay another night, but unfortunately they wouldn’t let us stay another night since the carpets were getting replaced on another floor so we had to go to a different hotel.
