The existing reviews stating how great this place is are not wrong! Chosen for this reason, we were not disappointed! Tikitams is, without doubt, five star. The staff do everything they can to welcome you and attend to your every need. The hotel is quite remote and certainly not for those looking for exciting nightlife. It's quiet and, most evenings, everyone was back in their rooms by 9pm. But if you're looking for quiet and calmness, where all you hear are the sounds of monkeys and bush babies, this is the place for you. The food is delicious and there is good variety. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Someone comes in every evening to turn down the bed. Afternoon tea is served every day at 5pm. The bar is a lovely space and cocktails and beer reasonably priced. We were offered a complimentary face, neck and back massage at the spa which was a real treat and outstanding. The staff are amazing. Two examples: 1. We were going on an excursion that involved swimming. Knowing pool towels were provided at the hotel, we had not brought our own. Unsure what we could take for excursion, we planned to ask at reception prior to leaving. We got to reception, ready to depart, and there was the receptionist with towels, anticipating our need without our even asking. 2. We wanted to use the pool table just off the restaurant. It is outside. When we got there, there was a large flying insect sitting on the table top. I got pool cue to encourage it to fly away. From out of the shadows, a massai warrior (I kid you not; they are the security team for the hotel) appeared, removed said insect, and disappeared into the shadows again. Not sure if he continued to observe our bad pool-playing or not because he was undetectable again. All you hear from all who work at Tikitams is 'You're welcome!' and 'Makuna matata'. We had a fantastic four days! I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Pongwe Beach Hotel. Our room was amazing, with our own pool for a dip in the mornings, as well as a lovely pool. The size of the resort meant we never felt crowded at the pool or dinner facilities. The menu was amazing, dinner options changed daily and everything was ordered was delicious with fantastic, fresh produce.

We liked everything. We have seen several hotels and luxurious resorts in Zanzibar and this is by far the best we experienced. Staff , rooms, beach, swimming pool, service, food. The common spaces are wonderfull and the bay is beautifull. Not one single remark to make. Everything perfect.

Amazing place, everything was perfect. Staff is very nice and helpful. Our bungalow exceeded my expectations, very clean and well equipped, the bed super comfortable. I can't describe it, you have to experience it for yourself. Buffet breakfast very tasty with a large selection, chef on site serves various fresh prepared breakfast bites. In restaurant you can get very good lunch and dinner (menu is change every day). The bar serves good drinks and cold beers. The Nakupenda drink is absolutely amazing, I recommend it. Special thanks to all the staff for preparing my birthday cake and for singing me a cool Zanzibar song. Hakuna Matata :)

    Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

    It was amazing!!

    It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️

    You need to take into consideration the feelings of your...

    You need to take into consideration the feelings of your visitors....we do not like being targeted by people pestering us to buy from them every time we go to the beach. It really is a negative factor of visiting your wonderful island paradise....it spoiled it for us. Also this happened to us on other beaches in Zanzibar so not just a Pongwe problem....its endemic to Zanzibar.

    TOA hotel is a good place to stay for a few days.

    TOA hotel is a good place to stay for a few days. Perfect to relax after a safari tour! the team is very efficient and professional with Ahmed and Hamdi for the housekeeping, Cecilia, Sam and Ester, all being always ready to help. A big thanks you to all.

    Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far...

    Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

    Fabulous small hotel with 80 or so bedrooms. Rooms very well appointed as the hotel is very new (built in 2023). Staff incredibly helpful and polite especially the bar staff with Prince getting a special mention. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a smile. Food was great with a varied choice every day. We had a fantastic holiday and thoroughly recommend this hotel. Beach nice and sea was incredibly warm when we were there although a lot of seaweed around.

    This place has a great no shoes policy and although there is a new fancy pants hotel not far away pongwe Bay resort is the real deal....authentic rooms and gorgeous thatched bungalows with all the mod cons which let you know you are in exotic zanzibar (not like the 'swish but you could be anywhere new places). Gardens are beautiful and all the staff are simply delightful

    The most special hotel I have ever been to. The Island is a magical experience. The view changes every few hours and it is just beautiful. The staff are absolutely wonderful and take care of every little detail. Don’t hesitate book your reservation here!
