What makes Palmera so special is its inspiring mission. The hotel and restaurant operate as a hospitality school for local young women, and the exceptional service they provide is a direct reflection of their training. From their warm smiles to their impeccable attention to detail, you can feel the genuine pride they take in their work. The hotel's setting is pure paradise. The infinity pool overlooking the turquoise sea is mesmerizing, and the lush, immaculately kept gardens create a perfect oasis for relaxation. It was wonderful to be able to walk barefoot through the fine sand and simply enjoy the tranquility. For anyone, but especially for vegans, the restaurant is a must-visit. The creative and delicious vegan dishes, all beautifully prepared and presented by the talented students, were a true highlight. It's a testament to the high-quality training they are receiving. The breakfast, in particular, was the best I had during my three-week stay in Tanzania, the homemade warm bread and homemade chocolate spread were unforgettable. For lunch and dinner, with main courses priced between $11 and $13, it offers exceptional value. This 15-room hotel is a quiet retreat. I stayed when it was almost empty and had no issues with noise, but even when full, the large garden and pool area should provide plenty of space for guests. The price range for double rooms in the 2025 high season was 70-100 USD. All rooms face the sea, though the view can be a bit limited from some of the downstairs rooms. While the large windows are beautiful, the curtains don’t fully cover them, which could be a privacy concern for some. I prefer a firm mattress, and the bed was perfect for me, but it might be a bit too hard for others. The solar-powered hot water worked flawlessly. The road to the hotel is a little bumpy on the last kilometer, but there are plans to improve it. In the bathrooms, I would have appreciated a bit more space to dry towels, or a drying rack on the terrace.

Really nice and calm place. The whole staff is really nice and the place is so peaceful with a nice garden and nice pool. Perfect to relax. And the wifi is very good too, especially, if you need to work. Will come back 🤗 our room was very spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean. We Really enjoyed it, and stayed even longer.

After a week crowded Nungwei beach we have spent there 6 unforgettable days! This was the one of the top hospitality experience ever! The location is quite stunning with direct access to the beach, sleeping in wooden caban with toilets and shower. The bungalows are so unique and cosy, simplicity and elegance are the right words to describe. They offer lunch and dinner in a restaurant with a single menu though that changes everyday, usually rice with fresh fish. All the local staff and the massai working there are very friendly and helpful. If you look for something natural, we would recommend.And no need be scared about the bush babies in the night, they are so sweet ;)

I came here after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, my main goal was to sleep, swim and relax after the hike. Overall, perfect place if you are looking for a little hideaway. Lovely sea view from my room. A number of hamocks, couches and sunbeds along the sea front to chose from to chill and sleep. Didnt feel overcrowded, very relaxed atmosphere, food, drinks, massage all well priced

+ The place was really clean, well organized + Really clean bathroom, I was really confortable there, not like in some other hotels where I don’t really like to shower because of cleanliness. + Owners were kind + Big up to Bob 🐒 + Restaurant was really great and affordable (quite the same price than a starter in EU/US for a main course here) + Quiet overall + Really nice pool + Beach is close Overall, we liked it for relaxing two days

We loved our stay at The Residence so much that we came back even though we'd paid at another place already! The villas are amazing and the location right on the beach can't be beat. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful. The food is delicious with a good mix of Zanzibari cuisine as well as Western for those who are less adventurous. The spa treatments are relaxing, well done, and good value. There are bikes at the villas to get around, but it's very walkable. I'd recommend walking as you get a better chance to see wildlife (we saw dik diks, an elephant shrew, a bush baby, and, of course, monkeys).

We were lucky and were the only guests staying and had the whole place to ourselves, great views, lovely food. Manka the hostess was fantastic and greeted us by first names every morning. Breakfast shakshuka delicious.

    This place is a gem!

    This place is a gem! A new hotel with a big heart, right by the ocean, surrounded by peaceful gardens and a stunning pool. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, and very friendly staff. The connection to the hospitality school is inspiring—it's not just a great stay, it’s also supporting something meaningful.. It’s rare to find a place that feels this good in every way.
