The timeline monument of Örebro and Sweden history at Järntorget really got me. In swedish though, but still fascinating. I liked the location. The staff were friendly. The photos on booking.com suggested something that wasn't really there. I can't remember exactly what was said at the check in but the check out was interesting. The reception desk was closed. We left the keys in the room. It was easy enough but unexpected and relied on us guessing the process. The hotel was good, no complaints but as I said, not what I expected given the photos. Other times when I have stayed in old hotels, there is an element of the old-world charm and facilities. The town was quite cultural, with its huge and historically significant castle, and outdoor museum of wooden buildings - but the indoor museum is currently undergoing a year long refurbishment and so inaccessible. The town is also quite pretty, particularly along the river. For shoppers there is a good selection of stores, as well as cafes and restaurants. Like all of Sweden it will be found expensive by non Scandinavians. I can see how it could get stuffy in there in hot weather (like many hotels) but it was perfectly comfortable for us in early September. The staff were lovely, professional and efficient and the breakfast buffet is really great and well managed by staff refilling and keeping things clean and tidy. It is also easy and cheap to find a indoor parking (Aimo parking, less than 200m, I paid around 15e overnight) Lovely home-made breakfast that includes fresh and veggie options. It was in a friendly neighbourhood with a range of shops nearby. Convenient for bus travel to city centre. Once settled in on first night, having been picked up by the manager's car although it was late, I had a problem with my phone connection to UK.
