went on the forgotten highway rail trail adventure trip, which was awesome, all their staff are great, a fascinating trip. Taumaranui itself is a bit grotty, but have a great Thai restaurant and good golf course.

Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip. Unfortunately, the motel did not meet expectations. I was told by the staff not to come again because they "don’t like my type." I will certainly not be staying there in the future.

Very nice town with plenty of places to eat. We visited the local RSA and the people there were very friendly, also very helpful. The meal we had was very good and the drinks very reasonable. Also had a meal and drink at the Golf club again very friendly and the service great.

A town full of surprises with opportunities for young and old. Close to t he river and jet boating and river kayak trips, ski fields in either direction, seasonal rail cart possibilities, cycle trails nearby and some good options for shopping and dining. The venison curry at Monsoon was amazing.

I have stayed here many times over the past 20 plus years. The Inn at the Convent is a hidden gem. Love the Ride the rails experience, will be back for more. The Forgotten Highway is a great trip to Stratford

A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. Handy to the mountains and snow, consequently the temperature is colder than average.

Stayed because of proximity to event we were attending. Noise from road not an issue for us as we were exhausted and slept through the highway traffic. Suggest that if noise is an issue then ensure you have ear plugs or noise canceling ear buds. Good location, family unit perfect for our whanau - everyone able to have their own space but still able to be together in the evening for dinner and whakawhanaungatanga.

Cosy, comfortable, spotless, well organised and practical. Lots of nice little touches you don't get in a motel or most hotels like a snack jar, bedside USB chargers with multiple cables, proper shelves in the shower for holding soaps/razor/washcloth/whatever. Heater was even already on when arriving on a chilly evening. Everything was well maintained. Strongly recommended.

I didn’t have the breakfast. The space was listed as off the grid and it was. Solar power , gas cooker to make cup of tea. I thourghly enjoyed my stay at Grand dads. Friendly warm hosts. Liked that it was pet friendly

The hotel was off the main road, which meant it was quiet. The staff were lovely and accommodating, even calling afterwards when they thought we may have left something at the hotel.
