As we are not familiar to this place, your advice is fatherly warm. Another very unique appreciation to you is you respect my country. Perfect place to stay if you are doing Tongariro Crossing or other tracks in Tongariron National Park - our host arranged shittle bus for us, also provided packed lunch for our hiking. Lodges are very cozy, a little bit dated but clean and very well equiped. Free laundry! Delicious breakfast! Good fast food truck very close....

Everything ❤️ We had an amazing stay, staff let us check in earlier which was helpful as the weather was not nice to go on the crossing 😅 Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Also kitchen and lodge was cozy and nice to hang out on a rainy day.

Our unit had cooking facilities,Hot water, heatpump, nice cozy bed with amazing views of the snow mountains. Marry was very helpful in assisting us. I will surely choose to stay there again.

The best thing about this place are the people there. Gillian and John were kindness personified. Gillian offered to come pick me up from the train station and guided me well when the tour I had book was cancelled, helping me complete my trek. The packed lunch, their breakfast options and spa pool after a hard day of climbing were all perfect. Highly recommend this place for the warmth and affection of the hosts.

    National Park walks were stunning and the area truly...

    National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.

    It's a decent small town in the middle of no where in rural nature. Close to the National Park town and Tongariro/ Ruapehu mountains. No real commodities in terms of gas stations and shops however but the National Park Town is only 5 minutes away.

    It wasn’t what I expected.

    It wasn’t what I expected. They couldn’t find or confirm my booking. The room that was offered to me was made up in a hurry. The cost was more than what was expected via Booking.com. I ended paying $20.00 extra.
