We decided to stay seven nights in Kerikeri and use this as our base to explore further North and East. This was the smart thing to do, because being at the tail end of Winter entering Spring, the weather fluctuates a lot. We timed being able to visit places when the weather was fine, and the bonus was there were hardly any tourists.
