FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

Excellent location close to the hospital.

Excellent location close to the hospital. The mattress was the most comfortable one I have ever slept on in any accommodation I have ever been in. This is a massive plus!!! for your motel. Well planned as to the the placement of the tv and all the furniture. The only downside was the bathroom. Really needs the bottom row of tiles replaced or at least painted. They look very fifty and unhygienic. The structure in the shower for aiding help also looks unhygienic these two things dramatically lower the quality of your motel

Auckland is such a vibrant city with so much to see and do.

Auckland is such a vibrant city with so much to see and do. I loved the mix of natural beauty and urban energy, being able to explore the waterfront, parks, and volcanic viewpoints while also enjoying great cafés, restaurants, and markets. Getting around was easy and the people were friendly and welcoming. If anything, the weather can be a bit unpredictable so packing a light rain jacket is a good idea. Overall I wish I had stayed longer as there is still so much more to explore!

Spent a day wandering around the excellent Art Gallery and then some shopping along High and Queen Street - including trip to Unity Books and Little Unity. So much to do in Auckland - we love Devonport via Ferry, Parnell galleries / restaurants and Newmarket for shopping. Ponsonby great too. Great supper at Gerome in Parnell. Great coffee from Remedy coffee just off Queen Street.

Having been brought up in Auckland, it has changed a lot as have many places. Homeless people on streets can be quite intimidating. I would travel outside of peak traffic times, can be a nightmare and use map guides

I love Auckland city because you’re so close to water, downtown waterfront and fashion. You can catch a bus to Mission Bay, be amongst the walkers & joggers, fruit ice cream and awesome sea views. You’re a short walk away to catch a ferry to Waiheke Island - love the gorgeous beaches everywhere, relaxed vibe, restaurants, art and vineyards. Don’t miss Auckland Museum in the Domain with the amazing gardens to stroll in. Great cafe as well.

We visited the weta movie experience which was great, also had a look at Mt Eden and intend to go to the museum and skytower. Found a great pastry shop called Daily Bread which is a must place to grab breakfast and the Fox is a good pub to have a tasty feed.

This hotel had everything we needed. Room was spacious. Good location: 10-15 mins walk to shops and restaurant. You can also book parking with this hotel which I don't think is all that easy in Auckland. I don't recall how much it was, but relatively cheap compared to other hotels. It offered me an option to include this when booking. You park at the neighbouring public parking. You can drive in and out during your stay, you'll just need to validate the ticket each time with reception.

Excellent rooms with comfortable beds, pillows, superb towels and toiletries that compete with top hotel brands. And the room was so, so, so clean and well fitted out with everything you need. We’re now staying at the sister property at Hamilton Airport and it’s just as good. Kudos to the Jet Park Auckland’s night manager who sent a shuttle bus to collect us at 3am and produced orange juice to quench my husband’s thirst.

Compact room with 2 single beds with hardly any space to sit and move around the rooms. The rooms are cleaned on alternate days only. the reception/lobby areas are small and noisy. Not worthy of the price paid for the rooms. There must be better transit hotels around the Auckland airport area.

Comfortable beds. Good facilities. Updated new bathroom. Excellent location 10 mins to airport and 5 from Manukau City Centre. Quiet rooms, good free WiFi. Stayed here a few times. Always my “go to” when staying in Auckland. Good safe parking inside the security cameras.

Good range of facilities, not too far from the airport - which was useful for us to catch an international flight in the morning and only averagely expensive compared to other Auckland hotels.
