Amazing Parisian early 1900s styled hotel! Really impressive! Beautiful furnishings! Great breakfast and lovely staff! Also had a great meal in the evening. On top of all this we got upgraded at no extra cost as they wanted us to have more space for our small baby :). Highly recommended!

We can't say enough good things about it! From the moment our little family walked in, we felt right at home. The hotel is tucked away in the charming Skostredet street, giving it a cozy, intimate vibe, with calm and cool Japanese-Scandinavian architecture and sensibility. Our room was very clean, comfortable, stylish and roomy, making us feel instantly relaxed and at home. The bed was big and comfortable, and the location is right in the middle of Bergen next to some of it’s best neighborhoods, but without the noise! The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful, and had plenty of suggestions on what to do and see in Bergen. A great team of people. One of the highlights was the hotel's breakfast – a delicious spread of fresh, local ingredients that set us up perfectly for a day of exploring. Being right in the city centre, everything is within walking distance, from cool boutiques and cafes to the stunning waterfront harbour and Mount Fløyen. If you're heading to Bergen, we would highly recommend Skostredet Hotel. It's the perfect mix of comfort, style, and local charm. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely beautiful! And incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I particularly enjoyed breakfast, which was superb. Diana, in particular, was fantastic - very welcoming, friendly, and kind. The atmosphere in the evening is also splendid, and the cocktails are a must! A little bit pricy for the average holiday-goer, but well worth it for a special treat! Can't wait to come back! :)

FAQs about hotels in Bergen

Picture-Postcard Norway

Gateway to the western fjords, Bergen is a picture-perfect postcard of Norway at its best. Colourful, wooden houses in UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bryggen contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery of the surrounding Seven Mountains.

For fantastic views of Norway’s 2nd largest city, hop on the cable car to Ulriken Mountain. Alternatively, hike or take the funicular railway up to Fløyen Mountain. With beaches sheltered from the North Sea by islands, Bergen is Norway’s busiest port and a popular starting point for fjord cruises and deep sea fishing.

The fish market in the narrow streets of the historic centre is a popular attraction, while just north is 12th-century St Mary’s Church. Around 100 years younger is Bergenhus, one of Norway’s best-preserved forts. Further north is Gamle Bergen, a reconstructed wooden village offering insight into the past.

Cobbled Strandgaten street and Lagunen Storsenter shopping centre are just some shopping options, but items aren’t cheap. As you wander around the city look for work by Dolk, Norway’s best-known street artist. Other cultural offerings are the many museums and a good music scene ranging from classic to indie.

Booking.com’s range of Bergen accommodation extends out towards Bergen Airport in Flesland, the departure point for many workers on the offshore oil and gas rigs.

Well, you have to know that it rains almost daily in Bergen. If you are up to that Bergen is an interesting city. 2 full days however is enough to see it; The main centre at the harbour is very touristic, unfortunately mainly due to many huge cruise-ships coming daily to the port and unleashing thousands of tourists. Around the harbour vicinity there are hardly any locals living. A bit off the centre there are many traditional houses.

I loved the architecture and history of the town, esp the museum of early Bergen. The public transportation was good, and the fish market was wonderful. Bring your waterproof jacket and pants as it rains there 270 days a year, so we were told. We had two days where rain never stopped (we were there two days total). Also, the restaurant costs were very high…but Norway in general is very expensive for USA travelers and our dollar value has dropped, making it even more pricey. However,it was a charming town in spite of the gray weather.

Nice town, the best is near Nordnes, with houses coated with wood and narrow streets with flowers. The norwegian food is a trouble for italians: the fish soup is acceptable, so the reindeer or moose meat and the whale (all very exspensive), but they usually eat hamburgers or salads with sauces. Good the potato dumplings, the salmon and the cod.

    The waterfront area is awesome!

The waterfront area is awesome! The fish market is vibrant and colorful, the Hanseatic market buildings are historic and colorful. A stone fort and church date back to the Middle Ages...so much to see, and we could have stayed longer. It was easy to walk around to all of these places in a matter of minutes.

Silent room with excellent black out curtains. Snuggly comfortable bed. Great breakfast buffet (once won the timings best breakfast in Norway), with smoothies and something for every nationality. Looked like excellent options for vegans, gluten free etc at the back. Lovely location by kode museum, a nice lake and a nice stroll the bryggen and the fish market. Beautiful entrance and lobby with spaces to sit We would absolutely stay here again if we came back to Bergen.
