We had a wonderful stay with Mr Bam’s family. It was Hari Raya and the family welcomed us to join in their festivities for the national holidays, which was so lovely and unexpected. We enjoyed the river cruises with Bam’s son each day and lucked out seeing the Pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, an orangutan and crocodile. The rooms are simple and comfortable for the time you need near Kinabatangan River. The food prepared each day was delicious as well. It was nice to know the breakdown of accommodation, food, transportation and activities too. Mr Bam had great communication with us before and during our stay.

It was more than the property - it was the overall experience that was amazing! The conservation focussed owner and has family went above and beyond expectations to ensure everyone was happy! They even organised private transportation for us to get there from Sandakan (cheaper then grab) and then personally drove us to Lahad Duta and got us mini bus transport to Tawau. The tours were great and only included their guests. We got to see so much - including Elephants up close. We chose all meals included and the price was a third of the prices I’d seen advertised as package deals. Whatever you need - just ask them!

I loved my jungle experience and stay in Borneo Jungle Adventure. Everything was very well organized; they took me from the airport, got me to the lodge and after two nights of staying there they brought me back to the airport. I didnt need to plan anything extra myself. The location of the lodge is PERFECT! Its a bit further down the river from the village and there is nobody around, just rainforest and wildlife. You can see many different animals, even very rare ones right at the yard. We were lucky to meet Orangutan at the backyard of the lodge!! The lodge itself was very comfortable and cute place. The common area where to relax, eat and observe wildlife is made comfortable and there is coffee, tea and water all the time available for you. The food was great, local homemade food. There was three meals a day and we were offered some snacks as well. You could buy a beer or cola as extra. Rooms were basic, nothing extra, but comfortable and had all you needed for your stay in jungle. If there was any other needs, the BJA team was helping immediately. During my two night stay we had multiple boat tours; two at morning and two at afternoon. We also did a walking tour at the rainforest. The boat tours were especially amazing, the boat driver Naen and lodge manager Linda are very talented at spotting different animals and they had so much knowledge about the wildlife and nature. We saw so many different animals! Even around the lodge the team members are always spotting animals, which are hard to spot for regular people visiting there. Last but not least the team of BJA is amazing and made my stay wonderful. They are doing everything to make sure your stay is perfect, comfortable and safe. I can totally recommend to stay with BJA if you are looking for relaxing holiday in the middle of the jungle.

Stunning location right on the river with a lovely terrace overlooking the Kinabatangan River. The tour guides did a fantastic job trying to help find the wildlife on the river and I loved the night and day treks. Reception staff are also very attentive and go out of their way to help you which I very much appreciated! The day plan is very well organised and truly felt like I was immersed in the atmosphere of the Borneo jungle - exactly what you come here for!

What an incredible place, you can do multiple river cruises from here all organised on-site. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant area overlooks the river which was lovely. The rooms were basic but had air-con and hot water, so was perfect. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food on-site was very tasty and plentiful, would recommend eating here as there are limited options around the area.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food was excellent, with a great variety and quality. Service throughout the property was good—staff were friendly and attentive. I was especially impressed by how eco-friendly the place is; it's clear they prioritize sustainability. A special mention goes to the guide, who was absolutely amazing—extremely knowledgeable and made our experience truly memorable. Highly recommended!

Great location on the river and basic but comfortable rooms. The meals were good thanks to Yanti’s cooking. Yanti also helped to organise transport back to the airport.

A good area for spotting wildlife, but I would recommend staying in a smaller family-run accommodation as you get a better personal service and excellent local knowledge. Early morning and late afternoon and night boat trips offer great opportunities to see the wildlife. We enjoyed walking round the local village, but there are not many places to eat out. We had all our meals at the homestay.

Amazing time on the river! This is a great place to stay.

Amazing time on the river! This is a great place to stay. Make sure you visit the Saturday/ Sunday market for a glimpse of local life. We would advise joining as many cruises as possible during your stay, to spot as much wildlife as possible. It seems the tours are all the same just the accommodation varies, so don’t worry about being on a budget. We did a 3D2N tour at sakau backpackers (we believe cheapest on the river) and it was absolutely amazing, comfortable rooms, but the important part was the great river cruises and passionate guides who would do all they could to hunt to find as much wildlife as possible. Out of 4 months in Asia, our time in Sakau and Sepilok has been our favourite.
