Walking on the beach was fun, and the water allowed easy swimming even for the not-so-strong swimmer. The food carts added restaurant variety. We had good meals at Bouganvillea and Chez Pepe, but also enjoyed eating in and watching the sunset. Lovely shopping, interesting people, and the public bus service worked for us. Flic'en'Flac is the best place to stay on Mauritius, especially if you're visiting Mauritius in July. North was windy, south rainy but west side just perfect. We liked our chosen accommodation, we had a good view of the beach from our balcony, the staff were great and we want to go back to sample lunch at the Creole Shack! The beach was lovely and safe for swimming and there was a good variety of eateries from beach stalls to high end restaurants and all manner of cuisines. Everything is in walking distance and four km in land there is a very large mall being built and a new state of the art hospital. Good vibe, nice restaurants, felt safe, fantastic snorkeling opportunities from the beach, convenient shopping mall at Cascavelle for groceries, etc. Proximity to Tamarin to catch catamaran trip. Flic-en-Flac offers not a fancy stay, but congenial, friendly, and economical environment. Swimming in the ocean or taking a mile long running along the shore allows visitors to stay in good health while traveling. This is one of the very rare spot visitors get to mingle with Mauritian residents more closely, unlike in other fancy hotels. It has its own swimming pool with a filter that runs all day! There was a guy come to clean the pool during our stay.I feel very safe and happy to let my little kids go swimming there! The landlord, he is a very accommodating and friendly person. He answers my question as soon as he sees it. And always ready to help. We are delighted to be living in his cozy and lovely home. Sunset was amazing, you have the perfect place. Inside is basic and functional. Beds are standard Mauritius and rock hard. There is a nice Indian restaurant to the left and a few more just down the road with walking distance. The beach lives up to its reputation and it was one of our favourites.
