The medina was really nice to wander through and we liked...
The medina was really nice to wander through and we liked the fact that it went right down to the ocean. The murals on the walls made it unique and it was nice to discover new ones. The riad we stayed at was within the old walls of the medina. The area was a delight and was kept clean by a population who obviously took pride in where they lived. There were many old narrow (safe) streets to explore in the medina with a lot of shops to buy presents from. The proprietors were never 'pushy' and a good price could always be had with a bit of bargaining. Outside of the medina was the usual hustle and bustle of an Arab town seemingly run with the usual disorganised chaos of most Arab towns we've visited around the world. Asilah old city center is beautiful and romantic. Maybe a bit to renovated and clean to feel authentic... The medina is quite small so one night is sufficent if you do not have any special goal with your trip.Guest review byAndreas - 10

It is a holiday destination that caters for the local Rabat/Tangier crowd. The town is expanding not dissimilar to Spain and S France a couple of decades ago. The town beach is OK, but the gems are a 30 taxi ride away. The food along the main section is excellent and cheap. Very few serve alcohol but there is an off licence if you can find it. I have been many many times in the last 37 years and it never fails to impress, plenty to do for a long weekend, easily accessible from Tangiers by train or taxi (approx 200mdh), very safe, lovely people, new marina being built , probably best to stay outside the marina as it might be noisy at night, plenty of affordable accommodation in the area, great choice of eateries, shops and hammams, car not necessaryGuest review bymandySpain

It has a pleasant atmosphere and features beautiful traditional elements. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and a small but charming bathroom. It’s lovely to sit on the rooftop terrace and enjoy a drink. Breakfast is optional, but we found a great spot nearby for breakfast called “Chez Farid” (highly recommended).
