It's a great place to start or end your stay in beautiful Sri Lanka. Only 30 minutes away from the busy airport, you arrive through a beautiful alley of mangrove trees to be greeted by the great team of Ging Oya. Imasha, Romesh, Nilantha and all the other staff make you feel right at home. The food is freshly prepared and tastes great. The pool is clean, large and a nice way to cool down. If you like nature and some quiet time, you should definitely plan to stay at Ging Oya. I know, I will again next time!

Perfect stay at the Karanukarala Ayurveda resort, especially the Ayurveda treatment was wonderful. In the beginning, the crew told me it was fully booked, but in the end, they managed to schedule it for me. The room was big, and really clean and the beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay there, especially to relax (recommend the yoga and meditation classes).

But what truly makes this magical is the people. Rafi goes above and beyond with genuine care and kindness. He brought an umbrella to shelter me during a rain shower. He helped arrange tuk-tuks, shopping, and even welcomed me into his beautiful village. That day will stay with me. Chuti’s cooking is out of this world — soulful curries cooked to perfection. Asanka, Cha, and the rest of the team are warm, intuitive, and quietly brilliant. Returning to your cottage feels like the fairies have been — everything clean, calm, and glowing. It’s the kind of place that makes you breathe deeper, sleep better, and believe in the goodness of people again. I travel a lot. I’m extremely picky. And I can say — from Monte Carlo to Mauritius — this is in my top three stays anywhere in the world. The Cottage is family, nature, care, and calm wrapped into one unforgettable experience. Places like this aren’t found — they find you. And they stay with you.

    Host Markus and his wife are customer service heroes. Every single detail supporting guests is at the top notch. They helped us to arrange our travels in Sri Lanka, including local visit to the SPA and finding the driver whos taking us through the country side.     Beautifully located, clean lodge along the river within 40min from the airport. The bungalows are spacious and private (each standing on theor own). The pool is clean and the staff helpfull and friendly. Ideal location to start or end your Sri Lanka trip.
