I had the pleasure of staying at Farm Villa Resort in Katharagama for two nights, and it was a wonderful and memorable experience from start to finish! 🌿 From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and heartfelt. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything. Special mention to the front office team – truly a gem in hospitality! The room was spacious, the bathroom was very big, and the overall comfort . The clean and inviting swimming pool was perfect for cooling off and relaxing in the serene atmosphere. What makes Farm Villa Resort truly special is its beautiful location surrounded by nature. The resort is set amidst lush paddy fields, and there's a charming little lake flowing through the property, creating a peaceful, scenic environment ideal for rest and reflection. I enjoyed walking through the paddy fields, listening to the birds in the mornings, and even got to pick fresh fruits from the garden! 🍌🌾 It's also conveniently located – just a short walk to the sacred Kirivehera and Katharagama Dewalaya, making it perfect for both pilgrims and nature lovers.One of the biggest highlights was the full-day Yala Safari arranged by the hotel – an absolutely amazing adventure! 🐘🦁 We saw incredible wildlife, and everything was perfectly organized with a knowledgeable guide.The food was another standout. The traditional Sri Lankan dinner was flavorful and authentic, clearly made with care and love. The breakfast offered plenty of variety, and every meal was beautifully presented. The dining team was attentive and courteous, adding to the overall great experience.In summary, Farm Villa Resort offers far more than just a place to stay – it's a place to connect with nature, enjoy delicious food, and experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. Whether you're visiting for relaxation, a spiritual trip, or adventure, this resort has it all.

It's one of the best villas i have stayed at the staff was so friendly and they helped us and guided us through a lot.. the place is wonderful clean rooms and comfortable beds washrooms were also clean.. the balcony had a beautiful view couldn't ask for me definitely recommends this place it's wonderful

The room was spacious and clean. The shower was excellent and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to have the pool to cool off in the afternoon. The hotel is in a convenient location near the temple and a grocery store. The Sri Lankan breakfast was exceptional. Highly recommended.

I have rarely been welcomed so warmly in a hotel; you immediately feel at home. The scenery around the hotel is breathtaking and the staff is even more professional and courteous. We had dinner and breakfast, both of which tasted very good! Demmi was also very accommodating, read every wish, really crazy. Our esteemed Chamma drove us from the hotel to Trincomalee, a real guide who has Sri Lanka in his blood, he knows so much about this country and is very accommodating. We have already booked a second trip with him. Sri Lanka and this hotel is a dream.

The night we spent in the treehouse was an unparalleled experience. In the Yala area, close to the famous national park, there is a small forest where the treehouses stand about 7 meters above the ground, spaced far apart to ensure complete privacy. Although the accommodation is minimal (as it should be), it features a comfortable bed enclosed in a mosquito net, a fan, a bathroom, and a shower — all handcrafted but built with very solid architecture. We had dinner at their restaurant: the food was delicious, the portions generous, and the space well cared for. Finally, the staff also arranged for a jeep driver to take us on a wonderful sunset safari. Highly recommended!!!

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it...

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    Even though it is a religious hub that connects all the religions to a one place, I enjoyed the YALA Safari very much. Spotted all most all the animals from water birds to hundreds of peacocks, from mongoose to leopard and elephants.

    Now Kataragama is to easy to reach through Southern...

    Now Kataragama is to easy to reach through Southern Expressway. It's just some 30km+ from Mattala Exit., Kiriwehera, Kataragama Devalaya, Sella Kataragama and Wedasiti Kanda are main religious' attraction points. We had our dinner from Hotel sunflower and Lunch @ P&S Kataragama

    My favorite places are Ruhunu Katharagama Dewalay,Kirivehea,Thissa Maharama Temple, Sella Katharagama & Ranminithanna movie making place. We have arranged our meals outside places such as P&S . All the places are very close to town area.

    Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm.

    Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm. If our Hotel room was close Temple we would have come in time of Perahera. Could not enjoyed the journey, very disappointing since the Room was 2Km away from Kataragama Town and temple , no access to outside choice food , had to starve until we reached KataragamaTown. Food and items were sold at uncontrollerable price. For example-Perera and Sons - selling prices below Fish rolls- 150 Fried Rice - 750/- quantity very less than side plate and a small drum stick piece chicken with least flesh. Nestea - Rs 120/= Lunch - Rs 520/= very very small quantity. All bills are available with me as proof if necessary. Surprisingly to know a very reputed food caterers such as PERERA And Sons exploiting selling least quantity food at exorbitant prices compared to Colombo prices to Temple Pilgrims visitors, striving to exist due to economic crisis with no though and concerned to the Poor and needy. At a Pilgrimage area, such as Kataragama, the business rich, could have treated the mo have visitors in a compromise way, selling at reasonably low price or served as Dansal. Their were visitor sharing an incompletely served fried rice plate some were begging at the entrance. This is the way GOD FEARING PEOPLE behave in business concerns at Festival period . GOVMT need to do something valuable to address the needs of the Pilgrim visitors comming from all ends of the country Sri Lanka. Could not fulfill the needs we went to Kataragama due exorbitant accommodation and food price.

    The accomodation is like a hotel in the jungle! The best kind of glamping you could ask for. Dinner is brought to your room (whilst the restaurant is under construction) and was some of the tastiest food we’ve had. The hosts will organise a safari tour for you. We picked the full day and breakfast and lunch was catered for us - more than enough food! The accomodation is on the border of Yala National Park and it was amazing to wake up to monkeys in the trees and buffalo in the garden. Highly reccomended a stay here.

    Amazing experience at Lake Front Yala Safari. The room was extremely comfortable and very clean but the best thing was the family that run this guesthouse, very kind and welcoming. The lady cooked a spectacular dinner, the best I have had since I'm in Sri Lanka, the daughter is a very smart girl who speaks very good English, she explained to me about the Sri Lankan culture and traditions of Kataragama. Last but not least I could book the safari through them at a very affordable price. I recommend this place 100%

    The hotel is conveniently located close to Kataragama Dewalaya, making it an ideal choice for those visiting the area. It offers accommodation only, with no food or drinks provided, but upon request, it quickly supplied an electric kettle and a plastic basin, which was helpful. Although there’s no hot water, the small kitchen available for guests to prepare their own meals is a nice touch. The owner is a friendly and accommodating person, which added to the overall positive experience.

    The pool was excellent, has a seperate toddler section that my 3 year old spent an hour in. the staff were very friendly, particularly the restaurant staff. I really appreciated their hospitality. The lake view was nice and we saw some interesting wildlife (hornbills, parrots, eagles, monkeys). The hotel is handy to the Kataragama temple, sellekataragama and has an appa Kade just up the road which was really good.

    A beautiful, slightly hidden gem in Kataragama. The town is in walking distance. The lovely family welcomed me with tea and snacks and brought me into the super clean and fancy room including fan and A/C, as well as a comfortable bed. The bathroom is super big and clean as well. I got a proper breakfast including tea again.
