I am reluctant to say how good this place was. We walked the Pekoe Trail from Hali Ela and Sumedha's place was a hidden gem. Sumedha, the host, could not have been more welcoming. He made us feel like valued guests in his house and he did everything he could to make us comfortable. The room was very clean and spacious and there is a kitchen to use and a beautiful terrace and balcony. The food was plentiful and delicious - with enough left over to be packed up to sustain us on our hike the next day. Probably the best place we have stayed so far. Visitors should be aware that Demodara is a small rural town (it's definitely not Ella and is much better for that) but from Sumedha's place you could hike up into the hills and see the most stunning scenery.

So far it was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. We were lucky to be the first guests of this wonderful place. Room is clean, everything is new and it feels very cozy. View is stunning - we didn’t want to go anywhere else Owner and staff are super friendly, helpful and professional We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend to everyone!

Magical peaceful space set about 2k from the city of Ella, with a short tuck tuck ride to the city centre. A family run business who was so kind and nice. A big, healthy breakfast. A large double room with a big private balcony. Really comfortable bed. Would highly recommend for people who don't want to be in the madness and loudness of Ella. The owner arranged everything for us. He even recommended a lovely restaurant and dropped us to the door.

The people at The Cubes are fantastic! We arrived late in the evening and it rained hence the road was wet. The slope up to the accomodation was a little steep and our car had some problem going up. 4 guys came very quickly to check and helped pushed the car up! So very grateful. We were greeted with great smiles and welcome drinks...felt like friends instantly. Breakfast was great too looking out to the hills and had a good chat with the accomodation manager. On the whole, the staff were very friendly, helpful and patient. Thank you The Cubes!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, and everything was spotless. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure every need was met. A special mention to Kristian and his wife, who were so welcoming and made the experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I will definitely be returning!

This was probably the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka. The owner was very kind. We rented a tuktuk going to Ella. He drove our tuktuk going to his place, bought us dinner from the city, and cooked us a very sumptuous breakfast. The place was amazing. Although it had no a/c, we were still able to sleep well at night. Apparently, there were not much bugs during our stay there. The place is just beside the famous Asanka Cafe.

We had the best sleep of our trip here. The location is perfect, not too far from the Main Street but far enough away to avoid the noise. The breakfast was beautiful, and the staff went out of their way to cook a special Sri Lankan breakfast to cater to our dietary requirements. I would stay here again when I come back to Ella ❤️

Loved everything! Room was incredible, views like nothing else, delighted to have a bed that could roll onto the balcony and a hammock for relaxation. Spa was beautiful with serene views and reasonably priced (it was cheaper than the place we went to in town!). Restaurant staff were lovely. If the sights of Ella weren't so fantastic, we would have happily spent every second in this room.
