For tourists looking for an authentic ryokan experience, the Noren Yado Meigetsu can't be beat. Shoji screens, tatami floors, and soft down comforters -- but with modern toilet, shower, and soaking tub
made our stay wonderful.
The host family is also extraordinarily kind and helpful explaining how things work and what ingredients are in each dish or how to cook certain dishes at your table. And the meals are delicious and beautiful!
Our stay in Tsuwano was made especially memorable by the family who run the Noren Yado Meigetsu ryokan.

Authentic old building, great decorations with old movie posters and lanterns. Room was large with lovely tatami and screens. Shared bathrooms were plentiful and clean. Friendly hostess. Good breakfast and dinner. Good value. Very close to the train station. Great cultural experience with traditional musical instrument lesson and calligraphy gift. Loved the town of Tsuwano.

What a pleasant Staff at the Noren Yado Meigetsu Ryokan in the small mountain town of Tsuwano. The rooms are large for Japanese standards, properly cooled (if wanted) and have all facilities required. It has a very comfortable public bath, that can be used privately . The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had in Japan. A true Ryokan experience in the mountains.

This guest house that I would call more like a ryokan is wonderful, the house, the garden, the nice breakfast, but most of all, the host was great. My main memories of tsuwano will ever be her(Kana) and her ryokan. They were the highlight of my stay in tsuwano .

Fair price, too.

The hotel produced a wonderful vegetarian menu for one of our party for the three day stay. Food for the 3 non-vegetarians was also exceptional with extensive 8-course menus. The onsen bath on the top floor was very relaxing. The hotel room was well appointed and very tasteful. Staff were very attentive and helpful to foreigners as well as Japanese guests.
